Very good gangster film. The Koreans are some of the best in the world when it comes to gangster/revenge films. And this def dosent fall short. But than again, coming from the director/writer Park Hoon-jung who also directed New World and The Witch Part 1 I wouldnt expect anything else. The stand out for me was Jeon Yeo-been, the main girl. Impressive acting. You can tell the pain she had inside throughout the whole film. Not to mention she had extensive training with firearms to be able to not blink/flinch while firing. Um Tae-goo, the main character, also did fantastic. Going from serious to loving and than broken shell of a man was amazing to watch. Also a nod to Mr. Ma. That dude was great to hate but also respectable at the same time. If youve seen Korean gangster films you know what you are getting into, if you havent, this is a good one to dip your toe into. Its on Netflix now, give it a try, you wont be disappointed. A solid 8/10 for me.

I love Korean gangster/crime films, I've seen the remake of A Better Tomorrow, A Company Man, New World, I Saw the Devil (really creepy), The Villainess, & The Man From Nowhere, but I will not subscribe to NF. I'll have to wait to see it somewhere else, maybe it will come to Viki?

Yep, seen them all as well and this film matches that vibe perfectly. And I can understand not wanting to support NF. But there are...other ways to watch things...online...and stuff. Also check out A Bittersweet Life. A little older but still really good.

Thanks for the recommendation. But I think I've seen it? It looks & sounds very familiar. It's playing on a couple of my streaming channels. I should take another look.
