There's nothing particularly bad about this movie. My problem is that I didn't find any of the characters interesting or likeable. The story begins around a Nazi soldier who deserts his platoon (not for any moral or political reasons but simply because he learned his wife had a miscarriage). He sneaks home and finds his wife who had made a stable life for herself working at a factory. He forces his wife to quit and he steals her job, basically telling her a woman's job is in the kitchen, and she mousily accepts because he promises to knock her up again. Meanwhile the boss of the factory (which makes Nazi bombs) is worried that the war will end and he won't be making bombs anymore.
This is all 30 mins into the movie, and although the plot was original, I just didn't like any of the characters. Each one is purely selfish, even the supposed hero who deserted. It seems he just wants to control his wife, and she goes along with it.
so I'm calling it quits. Unless someone who has seen & enjoyed the movie can tell me why it's worth finishing? Its 39% rating on tmdb isn't encouraging but I figured I'd ask.
