When Karen and her significant other move to a new apartment, they discover an old antique bed. Karen absolutely loves it and she soon allows it to inspire her artwork. However, a series of disturbing dreams begin to haunt Karen. Eventually she starts to become unhinged and her paranoia overtakes every aspect of her life.

Karen macht das Einzelstück zum Mittelpunkt ihres Hauses. Doch schon bald passieren merkwürdige Dinge: Karen wird von Alpträumen geplagt, lang vergessene Traumata aus Kindertagen verfolgen sie im Schlaf. Karen ist überzeugt, einen bösen Dämon erweckt zu haben und schon bald beginnt sie schreckliche Dinge zu sehen...

Karen ed il fidanzato Jerry decidono di affittare un loft ai piedi delle colline di Hollywood. Lui è un fotografo pubblicitario, lei una disegnatrice di libri per bambini. Karen un giorno scopre una stanza ricavata nel sottotetto del palazzo dove trova un vecchio letto in ottone tanto bello quanto insidioso. Dal momento in cui cominceranno a dormire in quel letto i due dovranno affrontare un passato oscuro tra notti insonni e continue visioni di perversioni consumate proprio in quel demoniaco giaciglio.
