The devil king Lucifero suddenly declares he's going to retire, and must choose a successor. The Devil King Cadets gather one after another, and go to the human world to participate in the succession contest. But only the devil king's own descendant Osamu has no interest whatsoever in the contest. Compared to the fate of the world, Osamu is more interested in his part-time job at a convenience store. Osamu has no choice, however, but to start collecting familiars called "Child," which are born from human souls. Osamu still only has an interest in his part-time job, and he's a few steps behind the rest of the Cadets.

El rey demonio Lucifero anuncia de improviso que va a abdicar y debe escoger un sucesor. Los Cadetes del Rey Demonio se reúnen uno a uno y viajan al mundo humano para participar en un concurso de sucesión. El único que no tiene interés en el concurso es el propio descendiente del rey demonio, Osamu. En vez de el destino del mundo, a Osamu le interesa su trabajo a tiempo parcial el una tienda 24 horas. Sin embargo, no tiene más remedio que empezar a reunir familiares llamados "Child", nacidos de almas humanas. Pero sigue interesado únicamente en su trabajo a tiempo parcial, y está unos pasos por detrás del resto de Cadetes. En el anime promocional, el concurso de sucesión está en pleno apogeo, y en mitad de una batalla entre familiares Child, Osamu implica sin querer a una compañera de trabajo.
