Bogart was in a lot of movies that essentially ripped off the plot of Casablanca. Hey. Why not? if you are going to steal, steal from the best.
This movie is one of the weaker entries in the Humphrey Bogart oeuvre, but it is still worth watching. The post war footage of Tokyo is striking and Bogart's performance, as always, is strong.
Unfortunately, this was made using his own movie company and he didn't have the great set of supporting actors that made some of his previous movies so great. His love interest in particular was lifeless and unconvincing.
Watch for some friendly Judo sparring near the beginning of the movie. Apparently, Bogart really did partake of that sport occasionally.
