Almost a classic but unfortunately has some issues

If only Baz would have shortened it and tightened it up a little, then I can watch this on repeat and watch every time it comes on. Problem is it becomes dull in the later part of the movie. A real classic like Wizard of Oz has no flaws and no filler. Regardless, if you haven't seen it, you should. It really is memorable much like Amelie, Fight Club, Princess Mononoke, Mulholland Drive.

I don't think of it as dull in the end, but it gets really heavy. I know some of my friends in high school would turn it off just before Satine dies so they could pretend it had a happy ending!

Why would it need to be shorter? It's perfectly 2 hours! The ending is not dull at all. This movie is a masterpiece! It's a great blend of comedy & drama and I wouldn't have loved it as much if the ending wasn't so heavy.
