I thought that the problem was that The Stath's forté is beating the hell out of people, but the 3 "baddies" left weren't worthy opponents, so the mercenary leader had to be introduced as a final boss. After that, it was just mop up and a rather unconvincing jump through the window.

I didn't mind the rest of the end as it left things open to go in different directions. If it had flopped, Clay could have died or gone on to something like you suggest, or the Prez/Westwyld could be determined to hunt him down... or maybe (with Agent Parker?) help him "tend to the hive".

I really hated the daughter FBI agent. This guy who isn't even related to her mother does more to bring down the people that made her kill herself than her own daughter, who was an FBI agent. She was kind of an asshole throughout the movie. No wonder she didn't have a husband.

Not exactly a credible portrayal of an FBI agent and I believe FBI agents actually have fitness tests they have to pass and let's just say that she isn't passing any of them unless they have a new plus size women's category.

The movie itself is a decent enough "Statham movie", which basically means he walks around looking grumpy and punching people in the face for about 90 minutes or so. Thing is he already has several movies where he pretty much plays the same character like "the mechanic" or "Transporter" and why not just make a sequel to them? Or maybe it is financially more lucrative for a film studio to bet on a new IP and hope for a jackpot. Anyways the movie often seems like a comedy what with the constant talk about bees and bee trivia and the occasional bee puns, but it's all delivered in such a serious dead pan manner with plenty of gratuitous violence. To be honest maybe it was even slightly worse than his usual movies because watching Statham walk around punching people in the face for 90 minutes with no real resistance or opposition starts to look bland sooner or later and you kind of just want the movie to end after the first 60 minutes because you've basically already seen everything.

I didn't realize it, but I've actually seen her play almost the exact same character in a Liam Neeson movie called Blacklight. She just plays "sassy black woman" stereotype. I'm black and I despise those roles.

But at least that part of the movie I enjoyed. I don't watch Statham movies for the acting or plot, I watch them to see him kick ass, and at least his fight scenes were pretty entertaining. But my god, the awful FBI daughter and the weak beta "dude bro" bad guys who are clearly Wolf of Wall Street knockoffs were pretty annoying. Josh Hutcherson plays one of the most annoying villains I've seen in a movie, and Statham doesn't get to beat the shit out of him.

What do you consider to be 'plus size'? I haven't watched the movie yet (later tonight) but I have seen photos of her & she seems pretty normal.

Well she is taller (5' 8") than the average, which is 5' 3'/5' 4" in the US. Maybe that throws off 'his' vision of her overall appearance?

I've looked up pictures of her and sometimes she looks very shapely and other times she looks bigger depending on her clothing. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a baby and just never lost the extra weight. She would look better if she lost weight just like any overweight guy would look better if he lost weight, and let's not pretend that's not the truth.

I like BDH but she was too big in that movie. She looked much more believable doing action stuff in her Jurassic World weight. She was doing all this crazy athletic stuff in Argylle and not losing breath or being exhausted, which is stupid. Imagine Brian Tyree Henry doing that exact same thing, that brother is way too fat to be ice skating.

I wasn't going to even bother answering since the two non "basement dwellers" completely missed the obvious point, which was that the FBI has serious fitness standards and it is painfully obvious she isn't passing them. The asinine whataboutism about a movie from the 80's would maybe make an iota of sense if the police fitness standards were the same as the FBI standards and if the movie was somewhat topical and if people didn't actually endlessly ridicule real life NYPD cops who are obese. Just google "fat nypd cop" for example and among others you get a real life article titled "Fat cops are weighing down the NYPD". The gentleman above also seems to miss the irony of the term "curvy", which is exactly what plus size people generally call themselves instead of "fat" or "obese".

Not sure how representative that is, but the lady in the white T is overweight by your standards? Who holds women to these standards? It does seem to be mainly men who probably aren't getting any on the internet. Maybe I don't frequent the right forums, but I don't see loads of posts from women complaining about "fat" actors.

Health risks are surely (especially in America) the problem of the woman? Though surely as black guy you should know that, depending on genetic background, some women are naturally large; it's not that they eat too much/don't exercise enough. Many nurses here in the UK are chubby because their shifts mean they don't have time to cook properly - but they are certainly physically active. People who are poorer can also tend towards larger sizes because they can't afford to buy good food an have to subsist on cheap, processed food which means that they tend to put on weight.

As for attractiveness, that's in the eye of the beholder. Some cultures prefer larger or "traditionally built" women. I agree that she often wears/is costumed in some awful clothes. I don't think her clothes in "The Beekeeper" did her any favours, though that's just me. She's certainly not "plus size".

See, while I thought she looked nice in all the Jurassic movies, I thought she looked best in the third, where she looked more like a "real" woman. I also thought she looked great in "Pete's Dragon" and "Argylle", though the blonde wig and spangly dress at the end were unflattering. As for "believability", did you watch the whole of "Argylle"? I don't think believability was high on the agenda. If Mme LeMarchand ever comes to her senses and dumps me, I'd happily move to the South of France with Ellie Conway and some cats. Zendaya does look skinny in those pics. Oddly, I've never thought that she needs a sandwich in any of the films I've seem her in, though.

I am usually entertained by most of Statham's movies (although I haven't seen all of them) BUT this movie is so bad! From the very beginning, it stunk. The writer's decision to go along with the tired trope that older people are clueless when it comes to 'technology' really pissed me off. Most of the characters were ridiculous, Josh Hutcherson as a sleazeball villain 🙄? The first assassin (Anisette) that was sent to kill Clay was a 'cartoon villain' along with Lazarus. I thought I was watching a spoof of a Tarantino film. The use of the word fuck over 100 times was unnecessary & supposedly there were only 41 deaths in the movie but I could swear there were a lot more. It took me 3 different times (a couple of days in between) to finally finish this piece of crap! I gave it a 3/10 & that's being generous. However, it would have gained another star if Statham had taken off his shirt. He was so 'buttoned-up' during the whole movie, we didn't even get to see him change into his diving gear at the end! 🙄😏
