Initially, Soul Food star Malinda Williams was cast in the lead role of Stacy. For undisclosed reasons, she was recast with Nadine Ellis.

Filming locations were at the Simmons family home in Saddle River, New Jersey, the Simmons offices in Manhattan, New York, and the apartment shared by Vanessa and Angela Simmons in Los Angeles, California.
