He was born in Piraeus and from a very young age he was taught the secrets of the 7th art by his father, who was a loyal friend, partner and supporter of Philopoimenas Finos - since thanks to his own financing Finos Film's first film "Voice of the Heart" was shot . This is how Nikos Kavoukidis has been in and out of Finos Film since he was a small child. At the age of 15, already passionate about the camera, he started working systematically at Finos Film as an assistant cameraman and editor, trained by Finos and Dino Katsouridis. Later Finos, confident of his abilities and talent, sent him to Italy to continue his training in photography. But, as he claims, the great school for him was Finos Film. From 1962 to 1968, Nikos Kavoukidis undertook the editing and later the director of photography in 20 fine films of Finos Film, collaborating with the best directors. From then on, he collaborated with the directors of modern Greek cinema, charting a path that has completely established him.
