As much as I like ScarJo & the BW, I don't think a solo BW movie is a good idea. In comics and in the MCU her strength is adapting to the situation and playing off of other people. In IM2 she plays off Tony as a flirt, in cap2 she plays off Cap as a soldier, in her scenes with Fury she plays the spy angle, And in Ulton she plays well off banner as wounded and scared. Definitely a testament to her acting abilities! But I fear her as the lead without anyone to play off of_ what would her purpose as the BW be?

good points but I assume she would have a great cast in a solo movie but yes with widow as the main focus. as to what her purpose would be i don't know (maybe going back to Russia to avenge something from her past?)
It would be pretty easy to do a stand alone movie for her and just make it an old-fashioned spy movie. It would be great fun considering how good she is in the role.
I recently read an article about Marvel's future plans, and sadly I think the Black Widow movie has been shelved, at least for the moment, because apparently the audience isn't interested in a super hero movie with a female lead according to some surveys Marvel had made.
Marvel is making a HUGE mistake by not courting young girls. Young girls are buying comics and watching superhero movies more than ever before. DC has even launched a line of female superhero dolls.

Well Marvel did made several surveys, so I think they know what they're doing, and lets be frank here - DC isn't exactly known for making big block busters, actually it's quite the opposite. Most of DC's super hero movies has bombed at the box office: Green Lantern? Bombed. Fantastic Four? Bombed (both the original and the reboot) The man of Steel? Bombed - and so on. DC isn't very good at making super hero movies, whereas Marvel do pretty good.
Where did I comment on the quality of DC films? I simply made the point that Marvel not utilizing the female talent they have with Scarlett Johansson and Elizabeth Olsen (and whatever other actresses they bring into the MCU) is a dumb decision. And the majority of Marvel fans have been calling for a female led film in the MCU since phase 1, so I call bullshit on these "surveys".
