That's not true. There were plently of Vampire shows & tv shows that became popular right after Buffy. When Twlight was out people were comparing it to Buffy.

They did compare it to Buffy, but that means nothing as far as whether what Jacs said is correct, which he is. The vast majority of those "plenty of" shows bombed
I can't at your delusion. Buffy prave the way for many supernatural shows that came after it.
Charmed
Smallville
Rosswell
VD
Etc... Buffy the true icon
Hence why I wrote VAMPIRE-related teen shows. Buffy inspired Charmed and a bunch of other supernatural shows (although Buffy itself was inspired by other supernatural shows before it launched), but I was talking SPECIFICALLY about vampire shows, which all were greenlit the same year (2008-09) right after Twilight came out. It's really not even a discussion when the producers of said shows themselves said they were influenced by Twilight.
Without Twilight there wouldn't be no Hunger Games, Divergent or Fifty Shades of Grey either. The book and the movie really had an impact, regardless of how utterly pathetic it was.
Oh, for sure, because Twilight was essentially crap. What it also created, eventually, was general vampire overload and burnout. Then zombies took over, and now they're reaching the same point.

And the show runners of The Vampire Diaries literally just did an interview stating Buffy was also an inspiration for the show. A big one. Denying Buffy's impact on the shows after it is absolutely ridiculous.
EDIT: Sorry, I was responding to the wrong post. I do agree, Mr. Jacs, that Twilight was the initial reason those supernatural shows got greenlit.

You have interesting reading-comp skills. He's not denying Buffy's impact or that it may have inspired other shows. He's saying that without Twilight exploding as it did, VD likely wouldn't have happened.
The most "iconic" thing about Buffy was the Buffy/Angel relationship so it's not a stretch to say that it paved the way for Twilight. Stephanie Mayer can say that she never watched it but it was still all over the important magazines.

Iconic. Gave birth to all these new vampire shows but nothing will ever compare. SMG the queen!

I only watched it for the first time last year and fell in love.
It will have a lasting legacy for another 50 years.

The Vampire Daries and True Blood were greenlit after Twilight smashed, Buffy really had little-to-nothing to do with that.

Jacs is right. Now, Twilight (ugh) may have been inspired by Buffy, but it was only after that that vampires in general exploded film/TV-wise

I completely agree.
Vampire Diaries, True Blood and Twilight are all shit. I wouldn't connect any of them to Buffy.
Buffy is in a big way responsible for the golden era of television in the 00s though.

Love all the Buffy related posts SMG has been making these past few years. And from the recent one it looks like her and Aly made up at some point.

A lot of Twilight's impact was negative though...
