Biography

Deborah Davis, a British screenwriter, is renowned for The Favourite (2018), earning an Oscar nomination and BAFTA win for Best Original Screenplay. She wrote the original script, which Yorgos Lanthimos refined with co-writer Tony McNamara, who rewrote much of it based on Lanthimos’ notes. Davis also created Marie Antoinette (2022-2025). She studied history at university, spent years researching the British court, and worked as a television producer before screenwriting.
