Happy birthday to Sidney Poitier, born 20 February 1927 in Miami, raised in the Bahamas. A fine actor and an important figure in Hollywood history.
I hope he is doing well.

Yes, it's hard to believe... even as late as the 80s and 90s, when he was still actively appearing in movies, he always seemed a lot more agile and youthful than one would expect from a man then in his sixties.
The last time I recall seeing him was when he received the BAFTA fellowship - via a video link, not attending the ceremony itself - four years ago. He seemed quite frail, but still as dignified, elegant and articulate as ever.
