James Mason is one of those actors who was seemingly incapable of a less than impeccable performance, even when appearing in weak movies. Always professional, elegant - and blessed with one of cinema's great voices.

Mason is mesmerizing in Bigger Than Life! I think I enjoyed him in any film he's in. One of my favorite actors!

You know, I can't say I've ever gone out of my way to watch him in movies though when he's there I always find him to be the only person I'm interested in watching. Since I tend to prefer Sci-Fi or fantasy movies, the movies I can remember watching him in are:
I can't say I've seen any of the others you mentioned, because they're not my particular fancy. But I'd imagine he's just as interesting and mesmerizing as in the ones I've mentioned.

Yes, he could elevate any film he was in. Bigger Than Life is a truly great performance.

I love the films you mentioned. North by Northwest is one of Hitchcock's greatest movies, of course, but I have a special fondness for Journey to the Center of the Earth, one of those childhood favourites which has stuck with me. Mason is simply sublime as Professor Lindenbrook.
If you are a fantasy buff you may like to check out Pandora and the Flying Dutchman.
