Timur Aslaev

Biography

Timur Aslaev was born on February 26, 1995, in the small town of Azanakaevo, Tatarstan, to a family of chemical engineers. At the age of three, his father moved the family to Pangody, Siberia, in search of work amid the economic decay of the post-Soviet era. The vast, quiet landscapes and monumental winters profoundly shaped Timur's outlook. In his youth, music, particularly the guitar and composition, became his guiding force.

In 2012, Timur relocated to Canada to study computer technologies, eventually working in cybersecurity, where he participated in global projects and technological experiments. However, his exploration of the meditative qualities of moving images and reverence for storytelling led him toward film, which soon became his orienteer.

Now based in Montreal, he completed his short film, Anastasia, an exploration of grief and its effect on a child. Literature and music remain his greatest admirations, shaping his artistic voice. Timur continues to evolve as a filmmaker, grounded in his cultural heritage while pursuing meaningful, introspective cinema. Today, he's in post production of his documentary Avec le vent et les feuilles and writing his new fiction project.
