Kurt Markus was an American photographer known for his black-and-white portraits, magazine and fashion work, landscapes, and nudes. In particular, he is renowned for documenting the decline of the modern cowboy of the American West. Born in rural Montana and self-taught, Markus was a nationally and internationally published photographer based in Savannah, GA, and Santa Fe, NM.
