Well, Fess has said that he switched to a platform of Conservatism later in his life, which probably means that by 1986, the year which he was considering a run for the US Senate, only one state would have gained a Republican US Senate seat, and this would have been Missouri.
But Fess is born in Texas, and by now, had long been working in Hollywood, so his plan would have been to run for a US Senate seat from the state of California, during what would prove a Blue Wave midterm election year (1986), in which Democrats would pick up eight US Senate seats (nine, but losing Missouri), in the states of Alabama!, Florida, Georgia!, Maryland, Nevada, North Dakota!, North Carolina, South Dakota! and Washington.
Thus, unless Fess Parker's star celebrity would have elevated his odds in voter opinion confidence, he probably wouldn't have carried California, but may have had his best chance if he took 'em to Missouri.
Great actor, by the way.
