Discuss Matt Bomer

Man I don't even know what to say. This interview makes me melt at his beauty, honesty, integrity, humility & when he sings like that at the end omg! [http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/video/matt-bomer-talks-tycoon-playing-stripper-magic-mike-49396966]

Yes! I also just watched. I'm consistently struck by those qualities, but I'd add once again his eloquence. He possesses such an easy mix of articulation and vocabulary that speaks of intelligence and informality at once - and it just rolls off of the tongue.

Absolutely! Love how his subtle sense of humor peeks in at times. His probably most attractive quality for me as you said it so eloquently so I'll just quote you as it deserves repetition "He possesses such an easy mix of articulation and vocabulary that speaks of intelligence and informality at once - and it just rolls off of the tongue."

His grace also stands out. Two examples from this particular video...

From several previous interviews, we've been able to read the absence of parental support for quite some time in his younger years, and, imo, possibly still not too long ago. Yet he's liberal with his praise of them. I don't think that forgiveness is solely out of familial duty but from a generous heart.

Also, perhaps it's because I'm straight that I can't fathom why some LGBT people chide others for not coming out. Of all those who should understand the concept of Live and Let Live, they choose not to be supportive? Yet once again Matt's open mind shines through, without the need to condemn the critics while lifting up those they criticize.

Great interview as always. As you say his integrity & humility shines through I admire him so much for his principles, I don't think he has it in him to criticise or hurt anyone.

Virgo - 100% agree with your last paragraph.

I think the longer time slot and the more "old fashioned" less superficial style allowed for some more nuanced detailed answers. The interviewer also mentioned knowing Simon. While I enjoy Matt on late night TV, especially with James Corden (Wish James would get him on one of his British shows) I find Matt with his friend Kelly Ripa disappointing. And though I like Anderson Cooper as a journalist he brought nothing to the table with Matt.

Regarding his parents, they did afterall pay for a degree from a good university. It would have been much harder to make his career without that training. And it showed great faith on their part to pay for a degree in a subject many parents would refuse. I don't mean in anyway to understate later difficulties but no doubt that support is remembered by Matt. It was telling how Matt mentioned in another his grandparents' immediate acceptaince.

And in the nearest thing to a dig at his parents, Matt mentioned on Jimmy Fallon a visit to a Christian record store. A secular store seemingly not an option.

As for gay's in closets, yes it is their choice but gay marriage, adoption, anti discrimination etc etc hasn't been achieved by those people, indeed some have actively worked against equality for others in the LGBT communities. My 2 cents as a gay man.

" indeed some have actively worked against equality for others in the LGBT communities."

Wow. Why?

Good points you bring up regarding the lack of exposure limiting progress toward true equality. My ignorance just shone through! I can understand a frustration and disgust by those out there fighting in the trenches toward those who won't step out their own door. Still no easy answer, though, imo. These issues are far more crucial than many others to which our society needs to wake up, but I can't imagine the crushing dread and apprehension in coming out for some. Easy for me to say, though - I know.
