Henry Cavill on playing Sherlock with emotions and returning as Superman

Though he didn't take part in any re-shoots, other reports that surfaced just before we spoke suggested Cavill had recently signed a new three-film deal with Warner Bros. to reprise his Superman role after Cavill himself pitched a new storyline. Is there any truth to the rumours? 

“Well, I think it’s important that this should be about Enola Holmes,” he says. Which, you will notice, isn’t exactly a “no”, and is despite the fact Cavill has been more than willing to discuss subjects such as Warhammer figures, gaming PCs, The Witcher, baking, and the Synder cut of Justice League. 

That sounds very much, I say, like a way of saying “no comment” without actually denying it. 

He grins slightly. “I said what I said.”

Henry Cavill Will Appear As Superman In Shazam: Fury Of The Gods

The reports for a long time were that he’d be popping up in other DC properties. The most recent of these rumors was that he’d show up in Shazam: Fury of the Gods.

Well, now we can confirm that our sources are telling us that Henry Cavill is appearing in Shazam 2. Based on casting information from the upcoming DC film, Henry Cavill is listed as a member of the cast.

SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS Rumored To Feature An Appearance From Henry Cavill's Superman

According to That Hashtag Show, Cavill "is listed as a member of the cast" of Shazam! Fury of The Gods, though they don't provide many more details.

It was reported in June of last year that Cavill had made a new deal with Warner Bros. to return as Superman in the DCEU, but that was never officially confirmed (the actor downplayed it in subsequent interviews). At the time, we were told that there were no current plans for a direct sequel to Man of Steel, with Supes expected to make a series of smaller appearances in other characters' movies.

So, a role in Fury of The Gods would certainly make sense, and since the source has had quite a few scoops pan out in the past, this is well worth keeping an eye on.

Not going to comment on casting rumors for several reasons. One being you can’t be sure about anything until it’s happened. Halfway through shooting Shazam the plan was still for Cavill to be in it. Scoopers could have scooped that and been right at the time but wrong in the end.

Nice. But too many rumors. Geeks are putting some sites on a black list for making up too much crap. It started with We Got This Cover. They're working overtime.

I don’t think anybody would be shocked if SM appear in BA. DJ keeps saying that the hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change. The geeks think that he can only do that if he beats SM. DJ also seems very eager to fight SM. Remember the art BL made of SM and BA fighting? So the, let’s say, “sneaky” thing HC did shouldn’t be a shock. It’s a shock that I didn’t notice it. But geeks wouldn’t be geeks if something like that went unnoticed. Yeah, they know what HC did last summer, last autumn, last winter, last year, last quarter, last month, last week.
