Discuss Henry Cavill

A thread for MI6.

While discussing the sixth film in the franchise, "Mission: Impossible — Fallout," at CinemaCon on Wednesday, Cruise detailed one of the film's action sequences, in which Cruise's Ethan Hunt jumps from a plane at nearly 30,000 feet to catch Henry Cavill's free-falling character.

To get the three shots that he and director Christopher McQuarrie (who returns after directing "Mission Impossible — Rogue Nation") wanted, Cruise jumped out of a C-17 plane 106 times.

Should we be worried about MI7? Word is that NTTD did poorly in the US because it doesn’t appeal to younger people anymore. JB looks his age, was too effeminate and many seems to think that a woman takes over the 007 title in the film.

I don’t know what McQ is planning for MI8, but he better include some eye candy for the ladies, if he knows what’s good for him. Lots of young women and just one eye candy in MI7.

TC’s the star, carries the film and is loved for all the crazy stunts. Guys go to MI7 for TC, not the women. I go for TC, eye candy and some girl power. BTW, is Nicholas Hoult still in the film? I got shivers down my spine. Something tells McQ will ruin his face with a stache or beard or an awful burn. OMG, he better not!

People might think you bothered the hag.

Why would anybody think that? I don’t bother any celeb on their socials. I keep the chat, b*tching, whining and lusting on the chat boards. At some point I might kidnap HC, though. That’s the only way I’m planning on bothering him, a celeb. zany_face

I think it’s consciously or subconsciously. I have noticed English speakers use that, but Google doesn’t translate to the English word subconsciously.

Why are you so eager to speak good English? You and good English are making my head spin. According to Google, many people use unconscious and subconscious interchangeably as a noun. So there! rolling_eyes

He’s not on MI7’s IMDb page.

Frederick Schmidt (Zola) will be back as the White Widow brother.

The article says crew member. NH’s a cast member. It’s hard to believe a main cast member would quit. But rumor has it that he might be one of those who left.

There are rumors that TC and HA are a couple.

I think that was just a rumor. thinking

It’s not just a rumor. TC was at Wimbledon with Haley Atwell and Pom Klementieff. Although, rumor has it that he arrived with HA. lol Apparently, Wimbledon is the place to be when you want the world to know you have a gf. lol HC went with LC.

Also, some articles claim that TC and HA split after almost a year of dating. Allegedly, they started dating in Dec. 2020 and split amicably in Sept. 2021. Is kind of sus. Roughly ten months. Katie Holmes was flaunting her nine years younger bf all over New York since Sept. 2020. They split amicably in May 2021. Roughly nine months. Just sayin’. lol

TC’s way to show Scientology takes Corona seriously. He even talked like the Scientology leader.

Maybe everybody should keep it simple and use the present and past simple tense in Scientology too. lol

Seriously, isn’t TC the second in command or a high priest in that religion? He must have a high rank, because he gets special treatment and gets to do what he wants. According to an interview that an ex Scientologist gave about working on Scientology’s Maiden Voyage ship, couples not married were not allowed to share a cabin, but TC and Penelope Cruz were allowed to share a cabin. PC was calm while TC was hyper and couldn’t keep his hands off of her. I think we all know what means. So TC may not be as innocent as he looks. lol

It’s not McQ. It’s not just the MI films

NZ Herald: Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise gets older with each passing year - but his leading ladies stay exactly the same age

The problem is bigger than not having enough eye candy for your viewing pleasure, Blue. lol Critics may take that into account when they review MI7. Some pointed out TC and Rebecca Ferguson’s age gap in MI5. Then they pointed out TC and Vanessa Kirby’s age gap in MI6. It’s kind of shocking that MI7 has cast two more ladies in their 30s while TC’s pushing 60. lol

McQ makes the female characters strong. That’s good. But all the good disappears by casting woman 20 years or more younger than TC. That shifts attention to another problem: Hollywood’s bias against older actresses.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

“What you’re hearing when he’s being very careful — he’s not being political, it’s sensitivity,” McQuarrie says. “Henry is a gentleman.” And in a hyper-sensitive, ultra-scrutinized time where any project can be imperiled by the slightest whiff of controversy, a lack of offensiveness is arguably a performer’s greatest career superpower.

Zack Snyder calls Cavill “a warrior monk.” Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie sees Cavill a bit differently: In a town full of celebrities, “Henry is a classic movie star.”

“It’s not like there was something in the water in the 1930s and ’40s that there isn’t today,” McQuarrie says. “Movie stars are not as abundant now for two simple reasons: The industry wanted and cultivated stars, and there were people ready to do the work required to be stars. Henry is in the category of somebody hell-bent on doing the work, and that work is hard.”

In 2017, Cavill was hanging off the side of an Airbus BK17 helicopter in New Zealand, standing on the skid with freezing, below zero-degree wind blasting in his face and firing a SAW machine gun.

He was supposed to be receiving instructions from McQuarrie, but even with his earpiece cranked as loud as possible, he could barely understand a word with those chopper blades roaring and had to largely wing his performance.

Cavill, his ear ringing with tinnitus, would go back up, again and again, privately drawing on his childhood military ambitions, thinking about how elite soldiers survive boot camp. “It’s what they call mental stamina — because what you believe is your physical boundary is actually just a mental boundary,” Cavill says. “It was extraordinarily uncomfortable; my body did not want to keep getting back in the helicopter, but I just kept doing it.”

Recalls McQuarrie: “It was an extreme form of physical punishment. We would get back to base camp and his face was literally frozen and he couldn’t make facial expressions. I don’t know another actor who would do that — not only do it, but do it with full commitment and never complain.”

McQuarrie offers solid evidence: The brutal four-minute bathroom brawl with Cavill’s character August Walker and Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in Fallout was originally going to include another well-known male actor in the sequence’s third role.

The idea was that audiences would be surprised that Hunt and Walker’s target was played by this other actor, then would be even more shocked when the character was abruptly killed off. The actor was put into a “fight evaluation” but couldn’t keep pace with Cruise and Cavill — which is why one of the film’s stuntmen, Liang Yang, was cast as the scene’s third fighter. “It’s a sequence other actors, when learning the level of commitment required, simply opted out,” McQuarrie says.

Yet Cavill brought more to his Fallout role than his physical toughness. The mustache-and-stubble look? Cavill’s idea. [astonished] That meme-worthy fist-cocking move? Improvised. Walker’s subtle wit? McQuarrie rewrote the character to take advantage of Cavill’s dry sense of humor, which has so far been the actor’s most underutilized onscreen asset (Cavill even got the franchise’s only F-bomb). “The end result was that you had a ‘bad guy’ in the movie who never lost that leading man appeal,” McQuarrie says.

Walker was killed off in Fallout, a move that McQuarrie says fans have given him endless grief about on social media, yet the franchise has methods of bringing back familiar faces. Cavill doesn’t appear in the upcoming seventh film, but an appearance in the planned eighth film remains possible. “I’m in the process of rewriting Mission: 8 right now, this afternoon I could turn a page and any actor from the past could come back,” the director teases. [pray] “There is no such thing as death in movies, only unavailability.”

I owe McQ many apologies. Many times I said he should sleep with one eye open for ruining HC’s face with a mustache.

Aren't you on the same boards? The only reason Blue is saying anything is because TC and McQ are really messing with her viewing pleasure. She never really criticize TC or something he’s in. Heck, she doesn’t get so defensive when someone says stuff about HC and he’s the sun and moon of her universe. rolling_eyes

I suspect that Blue might be TC’s secret exotic-looking daughter. She might be the reason TC decided out of the BLUE to divorce Nicole Kidman. He blindsided her with the divorce papers. laughing

Apparently, Wimbledon is the place to be when you want the world to know you have a gf. lol HC went with LC.

The world is really small. LC is dating Gemma Arterton’s ex. He’s a Spanish stuntman. Gemma’s story was already old news when I read it. But it stuck with me because it was kind of weird.

'We're too young': Bond girl Gemma Arterton ends it with her stuntman lover

Bond girl Gemma Arterton has ended a six-month romance with her Spanish stuntman boyfriend.

A friend of the star said …: ‘Gemma’s 22 and Eduardo is only 19 – they were too young to settle down.

‘She says she doesn’t have time to commit to a relationship. Eduardo is devastated.’

Munoz was Arterton’s riding tutor on the Moroccan set of her latest movie, Prince Of Persia.

When filming switched to England, **Arterton insisted the producers keep him on, and he moved into her North London flat.

‘His English improved but Gemma told me when they could talk to each other properly they had very little in common,’ the source added.

Speaking from Spain, Munoz … insisted he and Gemma were ‘just good friends’.

I’ll be damned. My mega famous, ultra rich, whiter than snow and kinda short secret dad wasn’t there when I was born? Well, all will be forgiven and forgotten if he buys me a mansion and a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT. I don’t really like it, but it’s really expensive. My secret dad is worth $700 mil.
