Beautiful Carol Lynley, age 77, passed the other day, on September 3.
She's probably best remembered for her role in 1972's The Poseidon Adventure, though also is well known for her numerous appearances in other film and television roles.
Bon voyage, Miss Lynley, and RIP.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of Miss Lynley.
She had a lovely and charming persona, and wonderful talent and audience appeal.

In addition to her acting talent, Miss Lynley had that tremendous wholesome beauty, as well as an easily likeable manner, that was very appealing.
She was largely a screen actress through the '60s, then primarily worked as a t.v. actress, though mainly in one-of appearances on series. Fantasy Island is the only series in which she appeared a number of times - a grand total of 11, to be exact. It's rather surprising that she never had a regular main starring or major co-starring role in a primetime drama series, as I think she'd have been perfect in an ongoing lead role in something along the lines of Knots Landing, etc.
Incidentally, here's her Facebook page, that presents a lot of nice pictures.

When I first saw her in The Poseidon Adventure many years ago, I assumed she was quite a lot younger than she actually was.
Would anybody recommend any of her other films?

The Poseidon Adventure and The Cardinal are Carol's only movies that I'm sure I've seen. I only just barely remember The Cardinal, and at this point am unable to recall Carol's performance in it.
rudely, I just now calculated that she was 30 at the time of Poseidon. I totally agree with you, that she looked and seemed decidedly younger, like by around ten years!

Ah, Blue Denim - that one's actually been on my radar for a while, I shall check it out. There's a decent copy on ok.ru if anybody else is interested.

Carol Lynley's wish to have a television series of her own was never fulfilled:
Let's hope that wherever she is, she will be laughing, singing and dancing, as the star of her own show.
Carol Lynley, R.I.P.

I would like to watch some of Carol's '60s/'50s movies. Although I personally saw Carol, throughout the years, mostly on t.v. series, I, even then, viewed her as mainly a movie actress who was appearing on t.v. She always had that "something" about her that seemed above the strictly-t.v. level of actress/actor.
