Is there any chance that there could ever be a database here wherein individual movies could be looked up, along with various threads about said movie, like was the IMDB structure, or is this going to remain a free-for-all forum, where users interested in delving into a topic related to a particular movie would just search that movie's name and hope a thread had been started on it at some point, and archived somewhere in the database?
Like, I just got done watching Confusing Movie II; The Confusining, and I'm damn confused. I decide to mosey over to themoviedb.org for help deciphering the ending, would I want to type "Confusing Movie II" into the search box and hope for a match within a thread or two, or would there somehow be a page dedicated to Confusing Movie II, as was the case with IMDB, where I'd be able to find a number of threads?
Because a dedicated page would be amazing, and I'd imagine that with the influx of people coming in, the admins of this site may find themselves with plenty of volunteers to provide whatever kind of manpower something like that could require. Just a thought...a hopeful one at that lol

Hi @Jehosaphet are you asking for individual movie boards, or something else? I wasn't 100% clear. If you're looking for individual boards, we have that already. If you're on desktop, clock the little speech bubble to the left of the poster (or scroll down to the Social panel). On mobile it's just the "Discussions" link at the very top of each page.

That's why I picked this one! I like to read about specific things I just watched. So glad to see that is possible here.

That's why I picked this board, too. Hopefully, over time, the individual boards will flesh themselves out.

NICE! Yeah I was talking about being able to go to a movie's dedicated page, like I just did with "Forrest Gump" (first movie that popped to mind) and then being able to click on a link for discussions about that particular movie. Lol didn't even see the search box on the main page so I guess just assumed this site was nowhere near as comprehensive as it is and was about to move on. Very nice...yeah I'm with you Shtexas, hopefully this site gets momentum enough that we can soon get our discussion fix met. For me, that's one of the best parts of watching a movie, being able to come see others' take on it, you know?

I think people are experiencing this issue because they are coming in new to this site, hitting on "let's chat" and seeing the thread titles and the associated film / show.
User expectation (from the way imdb was set up) is going to mean thinking clicking on the film / show title will take you to the "discuss" page / message board home of that film, which doesn't happen.
I think this is why people aren't immediately appreciating that the message boards are all in place...

Just come here myself from IMDB - I think this site is well positioned, to become the replacement to IMDB, but it could use some small tweaks - just to list some things:
Other than that, it looks good - I'd have another suggestion, to make it better positioned as a direct IMDB replacement (this would help you maximize and keep new users):
This way, when people visit the site, they won't miss those things - they'll think "perfect, this looks exactly like what I want for replacing IMDB" - and if you fix up the whitespace/lack-of-compactness problems, the site will be a keeper for people, and can most likely outcompete IMDB down the line, unless they return their message boards.
Also, I can't make minor formatting changes to posts, unless I add more text - it just gives me an error, so e.g. after finally figuring out how to use the list markup above, I had to add this sentence to make it post...

I really, really doubt it. This looks like a commercial bbs to me. I'm sure that what you see is what you get. To do what you want, Travis would need to roll his own code.

I can give you my experience, Travis. I just figured out what I was doing wrong...
I totally missed the search box (more on this below), so I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and clicked "Forums"... And BANG! I'm taken here: https://www.themoviedb.org/talk and there's a search box that says "Search the forums..." So I'd put in the name of the movie and... Well, no actual movie comes up. I'd think, "Hmm... I guess it's not here."
...missed the search box: The search box is actually here: https://www.themoviedb.org/ Travis! Ya got to make that search box more evident.
Ciao -- Mark.
PS: I'd also appreciate a WYSIWYG interface. Plain text would be fine if it maintained the EOLs (end of lines). As it is now, it reformats what I type in, and it does the reformatting in surprising ways.

agreed on need of more condensed view especially on movie page
as for second part, I find new mobile interface much better than desktop version, you have bar in top of the screen with text link to Discussions, no confusions about some buble icon, very easy to see, I just wished I could access mobile site from desktop, could it be made accessible through some URL instead of detecting user agent (I guess that's how it's decided currently to load mobile vs desktop)?

@markfilipak:
You can make line-breaks
(as in this example text here)
by putting 2 or more Spaces
at the end of each line.
(Note: After posting, check to see if the text has all of the line-breaks that you wanted. If some of the intended line-breaks are missing, it is probably because you don't have 2+ spaces at the ends of those lines. In that case, simply edit the post and insert the necessary spaces at the ends of those lines, and save the post and then the intended line-breaks should appear.)

Yes it does! If you go to the movie or actors page, there is a discussion link right under the shows description (they actually moved it since yesterday and added the word "discussion" to make it more obvious...!)
look here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1402-the-walking-dead see the link below with a speech bubble next to it which takes you here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1402-the-walking-dead
If there is no page, it is because no one has started a discussion on that topic yet, so start one...

@HoneyWest Thanks for the reply.
I did actually know to click through as you suggested to get to the board - I was more meaning that it would be nice just to avoid that redundant click-through from the movie page.
I would be good if it worked like the old imdb profile page whereby, using the current top of the "lets chat" / discuss page as an example:-
"Superior to the original"
↪ "Let Me In"
clicking on "Let Me In" just took you directly to that particular board, if you see what I mean.
I suspect for a lot of people that would save a lot of double clicks, and for the site a fair bit of traffic, especially as things hopefully start scaling up here.

I see what you're saying. I never navigated IMDB that way, I always went to the subject I was interested in, then scrolled down to the discussions. I would not mind if that was an option here...
It does seem they are open to suggestions here... so just keep letting them know! Plus there are so many new options to love. I like seeing the users in the discussion on the left and the notification bell is great too and so much easier to edit your post! Which I just did now, lol!

Yeah, this site has been superb thus far, lots of nice features already - notification bell is indeed great!
Even the thing I'm discussing here is from looking at the general "discuss" page, which didn't even exist on imdb 😀
Maybe having both would be best for all users, who might navigate differently, e.g:-
"Superior to the original"
↪ "Let Me In" :: "Discussion Home"

That's not a bad idea! I'll see what I can come up with.
