The Movie Database Support

Is there any chance that there could ever be a database here wherein individual movies could be looked up, along with various threads about said movie, like was the IMDB structure, or is this going to remain a free-for-all forum, where users interested in delving into a topic related to a particular movie would just search that movie's name and hope a thread had been started on it at some point, and archived somewhere in the database?

Like, I just got done watching Confusing Movie II; The Confusining, and I'm damn confused. I decide to mosey over to themoviedb.org for help deciphering the ending, would I want to type "Confusing Movie II" into the search box and hope for a match within a thread or two, or would there somehow be a page dedicated to Confusing Movie II, as was the case with IMDB, where I'd be able to find a number of threads?

Because a dedicated page would be amazing, and I'd imagine that with the influx of people coming in, the admins of this site may find themselves with plenty of volunteers to provide whatever kind of manpower something like that could require. Just a thought...a hopeful one at that lol

That's not a bad idea! I'll see what I can come up with.

😎 Nice one Travis!

One other suggestion Travis... a like button for post. Sometimes I don't have really anything to add but would like a poster to know I like or agree with what they said. I would not be apposed to a thumbs down too, just to discourage trolls and mean spirited posts.

  • Make the Reviews panel and Discussions panel separate from each other (one above the other like on IMDB), and make them collapsable - but default to having them both open.

This way, when people visit the site, they won't miss those things - they'll think "perfect, this looks exactly like what I want for replacing IMDB" - and if you fix up the whitespace/lack-of-compactness problems, the site will be a keeper for people, and can most likely outcompete IMDB down the line, unless they return their message boards.

+1 to that

@markfilipak It takes a bit of getting used to but you CAN force text to be on a new line. To force a line feed at the end of a line or paragraph or typed text, you can either put 2 spaces at the end of a line then hit Enter, OR you can hit Enter twice at the end of a line or paragraph.

After 1 day here, I am posting things the way I want them to look.

My only worry is that I will start putting two spaces on the end of source code lines at work and they hate trailing spaces there.

You can make line-breaks
(as in this example text here)
by putting 2 or more Spaces
at the end of each line.

Nice tip! Thanks, Lucus.
