The Movie Database Support

Hi TMDB Team and Community,

First of all, I want to apologize if I’m requesting too many features at once, and also if this is the wrong forum for discussions related to feature requests. I truly appreciate the work that has gone into TMDB, and I believe these additions could enhance the database for both casual users and industry professionals.

I would like to suggest the following features that I believe would improve the quality and usability of TMDB:

1. Support for Voice Actors in Animated Films and Games Currently, TMDB mainly focuses on live-action cast listings, but voice actors in animated films, anime, and video games deserve dedicated recognition. Having a separate section or a clearer distinction for voice roles (like "Voice Role" as a category) would help improve database accuracy, particularly for animation fans, voice acting enthusiasts, and industry professionals.

Why it's needed:

Animated films and dubbed versions of movies rely heavily on voice actors, and their contributions should be easily searchable. IMDb provides detailed voice actor credits, and TMDB could attract more users by offering better visibility for these professionals.

2. Dubbing Information for Different Languages There is no proper way to track international dubs for movies and TV shows on TMDB. Voice actors who dub content into different languages (e.g., French, Spanish, Japanese) should have credit listings alongside the original cast.

Why it's needed:

Helps international users find information about voice actors in their native language versions. A valuable resource for fans of dubbed content and industry professionals working in localization. Could be implemented as a new section under "Cast" labeled "Dubbing Cast" with language filters.

3. Detailed Box Office Data (Domestic & International) While TMDB provides basic budget and revenue figures, it lacks detailed box office data, such as:

Domestic vs. International breakdown Opening weekend revenue Daily and weekly box office trends Theaters count and per-screen earnings Why it's needed:

Would make TMDB a more competitive alternative to Box Office Mojo and The Numbers. Provides deeper insights into a film’s financial success. Useful for researchers, movie analysts, and casual moviegoers who follow box office trends.

4. Bonus Credit Scene Information Many modern movies have post-credit or mid-credit scenes, but there is no structured way to indicate this on TMDB. A small flag/icon or a dedicated section mentioning whether a movie has a post-credit scene, mid-credit scene, or both would be helpful.

Why it's needed:

Helps moviegoers know whether to stay after the credits. Avoids spoilers by offering a simple "Yes/No" without describing the scene itself. Improves the completeness of movie data.

5. Dedicated Awards Section TMDB currently does not have a structured way to showcase movie and TV show awards. A dedicated "Awards & Nominations" section for each title and actor would enhance the database significantly.

Why it's needed:

IMDb provides award data, but TMDB could do it better with a clean, structured layout. Would allow users to see which movies, actors, and directors have won Oscars, Golden Globes, etc., in one place. Could include filters by award type (Academy Awards, BAFTAs, Emmys, etc.).

6. Parental Controls & Content Warnings TMDB provides movie ratings (PG, R, etc.), but additional parental guidance details (e.g., whether a movie contains violence, strong language, nudity, etc.) would be extremely useful for families and general audiences.

Why it's needed:

Many parents look for content warnings before letting kids watch a movie. A simple breakdown (violence: mild, moderate, strong | language: mild, moderate, strong, etc.) would be highly useful. Would make TMDB a go-to alternative to Common Sense Media and DoesTheDogDie for parental guidance.

I understand that implementing these features requires significant development time and resources, but I believe they would make TMDB an even more comprehensive and user-friendly database.

Would love to hear the community’s thoughts on these suggestions. Thank you for considering these ideas, and again, I apologize if this is the wrong place to post feature requests!
