I really, really, really don't like the of Jim Kirk being on Strange New Worlds! It's a horrible idea! I HATE IT!

I thought you weren't a Star Trek Canon Extremist.

What is Sam's tragedy? Will he and Jim have some kind of sibling rivalry? Is Aurelan involved, or someone else? It's the Kirk's family. wink

Here and here about S1E02 "Children of the Comet".

Thanks W2W !

I viewed the links ... so Pike and Co are preparing a barbecue? I thought you had to be outside for that due to all the smoke.

Seeing Spock is emotional, which doesn't make sense seeing he had a Vulcan upbringing, will he also eat meat?

Hemmer's race is related to the Andorians ... he seems witty .. I like his black fingernails.

The scene with Spock singing in the turbolift with Una is utterly cringe-worthy..on the other hand, I liked the scene with Uhura and Spock humming ..it reminded me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

In regards to Pike ...and can he avoid his dark fate?

I thought the priest in the Klingon Monastery gave Pike a choice after he saw the vision of his future: (ST Discovery S2E3 )

if he chose to leave the crystal( which he needed to save the galaxy) he could change his future.

instead, if he took the crystal, he accepted his fate, and his dark future was locked.

He has the vegetarian option. It's possible that in the future he'll eat meat.

He is like the smart nerdy kid, who is shy and awkward. He is very intelligent and good at doing certain things, but he also has to learn a lot about other things like jokes and sarcasm. He is smitten with T'Pring, but doesn't know much about how to behave around women.

He laughs, he sings, next time he will be in a musical play. grin

Pike doesn't have to keep to that promise. If the writers decide that there is a way to change his future, it will happen.

In season two of "Star Trek: Picard" Picard's great-great-grand aunt Renée Picard was supposed to die. She did and didn't. I wouldn't say how that was done here, but If you want to know I can give the answer with a spoiler warning.

Sorry, this was a big deal when Pike decided : The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.

They needed that crystal and Pike was given a choice after he saw his future / aka accident:

If he renounced the Crystal, he had a chance to change his future.

If he took the Crystal, his fate was sealed. Full stop.

He makes the sacrifice, he took the Crystal knowing his dark future was now locked.

Pike might try to avoid the accident but like the priest said HIS DARK FATE/ aka accident could not be changed if he took the Crystal.

It doesn’t have anything to do with Pike accepting it or not .. it’s not in his hands. His fate is sealed.

The writers already spit on canon................. How can anyone respect these writers if they opt to ignore the consequences Pike's choice would have?

Writers that ignore their own storylines should go back to uni to study how to write.

PS: wonder2wonder, I have not seen Picard so thanks but don't worry about explaining about Picard's great-grandmother.

but Spock doesn't know much about how to behave around women.

We are now in the year 2258/2259. In 2261 Spock meets Leila Kalomi on Earth, she falls in love with him and Spock does have feelings for her but he does not act on them. Then in 2267 Kirk and Spock arrive on Omicron 3. Spock infected by the spores, loses control of his emotions and declares his love for her.

I know. There are rumours that Spock will meet Leila in (S)SNW. There is a romance. Perhaps he will stay faithful to T'Pring. Stonn might also be with T'Pring. Even the possiblity of someone becoming pregnant. Spock certainly has it difficult with all these women, and we're not even talking about Christine here.

I'm sure you are familiar with the "The Other Side of Paradise 's " storyline... Spock never acted on those feelings he had for Leila on Earth. That's why Leila exposed Spock to the spores on Omicron because she wanted the spores to tear down the walls he had put up around his heart. So there can be no romance between Spock and Leila on Earth . Full stop.

I don't see Spock making love to T"Pring ...wouldn't that bound his body and mind to her. When did they even have time to acquaint anyway? He left for Starfleet and I don't think he ever went back to Vulcan seeing in Journey to Babel, Amanda told Kirk that Spock and Sarek had not spoken to each other for 18 years.

by wonder to wonder

Spock laughs, he sings, next time he will be in a musical play.

I don't like musicals in general...Spock did sing once under duress in Plato's Children.

I read Nimoy actually wrote the song. The lyrics are lovely.

Take care, young ladies, and value your wine.

Be watchful of young men in their velvet prime.

Deeply they'll swallow from your finest kegs,

Then swiftly be gone, leaving bitter dregs.

Ahh-ah-ah-ah, bitter dregs.

Your time hold precious, for youth is your gold.

Your beauty, like silver, will tarnish when old.

Memories and dreams shall comfort you not.

When the flow of your sweetness is gone and forgot.

Ahh-ah-ah-ah, gone and forgot.

With smiling words and tender touch,

Man offers little and asks for so much.

He loves in the breathless excitement of night,

Then leaves with your treasure in cold morning light.

Ahh-ah-ah-ah, in cold morning light.

In "(S)SNW" Spock and T'pring have been in touch since their childhood. I mentioned that in this short post with videoclip: Spock & T'Pring

Sure didn't sound that way in "Amok Time."

This Spock is completely out of character.. Knix is right ...in Amok Time , Spock confesses to Kirk that he hoped being half human would avoid him from experiencing Pon Farr ( losing control of his emotion and having to mate with T"Pring or die).

If Spock actually had kept in touch with T"Pring (which meant he had an interest in her ) he would have acted like we saw him in the video you provided.

Spock is not even in pon farr and he wants to make out with T"Pring.

But that's not how Nimoy's Spock acted in Amok Time...he was stressed out and he knew that to get through pon farr he had no choice but to mate or die.

In What Are Little Girls Made Of (year 2266 according to Alpha memory), we find out that Dr.Roger Korby is the great love of Christine.

She was a student in his class. They fell in love and got engaged before he left on mission in 2260 beginning 2261.

Kirk in his opening report in the episode What Are Little Girls Made Of (2266), says that the last message from Dr. Kolby was 5 years prior (2261).

The Klingon/Earth conflict was from 2256 to 2257. We then had the Red Angel mission 2258

Spock and Christine are on the Enterprise now in the year 2259. So Christine should be engaged with Kolby at this point ...so why has she got the hots for Spock?

In (S)TOS she had feelings for Spock. In (S)SNW you will see how it starts. Il nuovo Star Trek è come una telenovela. wink

It's all just BS claptrap retcon nonsense.
