"Be afraid, be really afraid! It is not the fly, critters, predators or aliens, but even scarier. It is the Gorn and their babies."
"They will spit venom and when you are infected with their eggs, they grow and grow within you, and then the hatchlings burst out, attacking anyone in sight."
"A landing party - consisting of Pike, Spock, Samuel Kirk, La'an Noonien-Singh, Uhura, Hemmer, M'Benga, Christine, Lieutenant Duke and Cadet Chia - are on the desolate frozen planet Valeo Beta V to investigate the cause of a crashed Federation spaceship, the USS Peregrine."
"They encounter a dangerous enemy and must try to overcome their fear of these scary monsters. It is a life and death situation and some will not return. Others' lives will change forever."

Thanks, wonder2 wonder for the update
From the pics and clips, you posted the plot seems very similar to Alien and Prometheus. The Gorn in TOS was like those advanced lizard aliens in the series VISITORS.
The Gorn here instead seems more animalistic, looking just to feed itself and ( reproduce itself?) I can't imagine this thing maneuvering a spaceship.

@sunshine62 Ciao.
Yes, the writers 'borrowed' a lot from those franchises.
The last episode of season 1 is all about Captain Pike. He decides to change his future, but then gets a visit from Admiral Pike from an alternate time line, where he never has that accident. The consequence of Pike avoiding his fate is a Romulan war starting in the Neutral Zone that resembles "Balance of Terror". And he meets Captain Kirk.

Ciao wonder2wonder
off late, Star Trek Reddit links pop up on the right-hand side of my screen..this morning I found this statement.
When Akiva Goldsman says they finally figured out the right tone and learned to respect canon with SNW
Are we kidding..canon in SNW has been trashed far more times than in ST Discovery. The writers seem adamant to rewrite every significant moment in TOS.
I don't know who this Akiva Goldsman is but he sure likes to make fun of TOS fans.
Re Kirk...............I already said this actor they have hired to play Kirk just doesn't have the charisma nor the looks. He is less than... meh. Hemmar (?) , the one with the antennae, is by far more interesting.

Although most fans are very happy with this new show, some would like to have another actor play Captain Kirk in the future reboot of the original series. Paul Wesley says that he is playing Kirk the way he and the writers envision him to be originally, and not like how William Shatner played the character. The producers hope that Wesley will grow in his role and be accepted as the new Captain Kirk. We'll see what happens in season two and further on.

Even if their version of the acting somehow became credible, his physicality vs Shatner is not.

First Contact with the Gorn was in TOS Arena a decade later again the writers still haven't figured out the time lines
