Very entertaining

Disney, pay attention. This is how you write, produce and direct a show. I was not bored for a second, binged it in 2 days and now I want to see the original anime. While Disney hires incompetent and inexperienced millennials, who got helicoptered all life by their parents and have no idea about the real world, Netflix got professionals that know what they are doing.
The show looks great and filmed great, all the goofy and silly stuff in it actually feel suitable and in place, the world building is really good. The characters are still not fully explored and some of their backgrounds feel cliche and very naive and superficial, but I think in that specific universe of the show it's acceptable, as the show's themes are more childish and naive in their intentions. However, although this is not an adult show, it's still very entertaining and thrilling.
I hope that this show will be an example of how to adapt manga/anime series to western audiences and more adaptations will follow, pushing away and destroying Disney's idiotic content. And maybe upcoming Avatar will be another nail in Disney's coffin, although it is not based on Anime. But still, this is content from talented storytellers that struggled and proved their stories are great and they must be exposed to the wider audiences.

Wow, finally a live-action anime series that's actually good! Who would have thunk that it would come out of Netflix (considering how many times they've failed in the attempt)?

The Mandalorian was well written, produced, and directed.
Disney did that.
Favreau and Filoni are competent, experienced, and not millennials.
Disney hired them.

Yeah, they also did the Skywalker saga and the ObiWan series. They are more miss than hit. Kathleen Kennedy is also not a millennial.

Fair enough. The OP made it seem like Disney doesn't know what they're doing at all. Disney has been blowing the doors off box office performance and profitability since the 30s. Of course they're not perfect, no human nor organization is; but I get the distinct impression issues with Disney today are more about politics than whether they're producing good entertainment.

I got the impression that they were talking about handling content previously handled in another medium or by another entity which is why I brought up Star Wars projects. And yes, perhaps injecting politics or social engineering may have hampered the quality a bit and I think they will back down from this eventually. The problem is people keep buying this crap. As terrible as the Skywalker saga was, it made a boatload of money. I myself, actually got Disney plus for the couple of months Kenobi was on so they got my money too on that one.

Perhaps. But it boggles my mind how difficult it is for more people to appreciate that movies which cowtow to the status quo are also injecting politics and social engineering as well,such that it's not so much about politcs, but more about whose politics.
It may be seen as a problem to some but, to others, the status quo is closer to THE problem than any alternative views.
I haven't seen it, can't speak to that.
One of the reasons I built my movie ROI database was to get more objective about the relationship between movies' critical reviews and financial performance. It's tenuous at best. Crappy movies often make lots of money, while excellent films often do not. What's interesting is that we still tend to assume that a bad production should not make money, and a "good" one (whatever that means is also often subjective) should.
