From Juliettes outside walk one sees the neighbouring silos. So not an extremely far distance between them. Mining to the „sides“ would definitely connect at some time.

Mining downwards would first get in the drill room or if it passed it they‘d have a groundwater problem.

For the age of the silos with more than 100 years there would have been plenty of mining.
