Most of the cast should have died many times over from infection. Its one of the things that drives me a bit nuts in so many shows and movies.
Yeah, I get it.
You know what drives me insane in the movie Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone?
If you saw it. It was the scene when he's on the mountain with the villains...one played by John Lithgow. He's told to take off his coat and sweater...stripped down to a t-shirt. He then falls into a pool of freezing water. That alone would have caused hypothermia to set in IMMEDIATELY. Nevertheless, he escapes the freezing β cold water π into below zero freezing cold air with incredible winds π¬ and...voila, he survives with not even chapped lips π.
I always think about dental! I can't help but think how many cavities that they must have and one day there is going to be a massively painful tooth that needs to be pulled. That goes well with infection.
No. Rick needs to remain fully intact. A war is coming. π« π£ π¨ πΉ β π‘ π π«
Rick got tore up!! That blade went straight through his hand. Part of me thought, maybe the garbage people will help him with that after he gets out of there. But, no, because they're not good people.
The missing hand is one thing I like about the comicbook. It lends a sense of realism to it.
That was a nasty stab wound he got when fighting with the garbage knight.

They had antibiotics in Alexandria until recently, when Negan's people decided to empty the whole shelf and leave them nothing. If they need a little more they can always go ransack Spencer's house. I'm sure the little weasel had some set aside for his own personal use once the infirmary ran out. But you know, the only wound I've ever had get infected was a burn caused by boiling water. Burns are horrible. Even if you're good about taking care of them they often get infected anyway. Cuts (serious ones included) usually heal okay as long as you keep them clean and bandaged. An abscessed tooth could be a real problem though. I don't recall them saying anything about a dentist in Alexandria. I'm guessing the junk people don't have one either. Maybe Ezekiel knows a good dentist, Rick should ask for a referral next time he's there.
I worry about little Judith never having received any immunizations. There's a part of me that believes Judith could be a key to curing the infection and saving mankind. Something about a child being born into a world of zombies and infected people not being infected herself. Just my "hope" dream. Never read the comics, so I don't know if there is any mention of a cure. π€ π π

From what I understand, no. There's been no mention of any cure because they're not ready to wrap up the story. At this point a vaccine for individual people would be of limited usefulness anyway. The damage is mostly done. Yeah, it would be nice if everyone left was immune to bites but that immunity won't keep twenty walkers from tearing you apart. It also won't bring back the billions of dead or fix the ruined cities or get rid of all the warlords like Negan (and you know there are others). What they really need is what Eugene promised but couldn't deliver. Something to neutralize the zombie agent so the walking corpses all stop and drop for good.

The low population density will likely prevent her from ever having to worry about measles, mumps, or whooping cough. The lack of tetanus shots and boosters is a concern though. Little kids do have a way of collecting cuts and bruises.

I just remember that Z Nation addressed that a little bit when Addie had the tooth that needed to be pulled.
I remember that episode of Z Nation. Funny thing about that is they said the tooth was infected and needed to be removed. Once they took out the tooth she was miraculously ok. No antibiotics or pain pills required.

I recently had a tooth pulled and replaced with an implant. If it wasn't for the pain meds the dentist gave me after the extraction ... well let's just say it would've been a really long night. But hey, it's TV. Right? Guys get clubbed unconscious with a barstool only to get up a few minutes later, wince and rub their heads, then take off after the bad guys. They catch up to them. There's a fight. Multiple punches to the face right after a serious concussion, and they're still perfectly fine. Gotta love it!

Is it an excuse to chop off his hand? I hope not.
