The relationship between Oliver and Slade almost has my head spinning. First they are trapped on the island trying to help each other, then Slade blames Oliver for Shado's death and they become enemies. Slade forces Oliver to make a choice between his mother and sister, just like he had to make a choice between Sara and Shado, and kills his mother right in front of him. You would think from there, there is no way the current events are happening, where Oliver is risking his life once again, for Slade? But because Oliver broke Slade out of his prison to help save William--which he did of course--they are now friends. All is forgotten and forgiven? Slade forgives Oliver for causing Shado's death, and Oliver forgives Slade for murdering his mother right in front of him...to a point where Oliver has no problem totally disregarding the very reason he gave up bein the Green Arrow...so he would not risk the life of William's father?
Am I the only one who thinks that's a stretch even Elongated Man couldn't achieve?

Slade was under the effects of mirakaru. It made him psychotic and delusional with a warped sense of reality. Or to put it another way, that drug made him insane. Slade being on that prison island basically forced him to detox. So when Ollie saw him again he had his marbles again (as in not crazy).
In fact, this was actually said verbatim in the show, as well as everything you wondered about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzcjbneTeik

Thank you very much! I watched that scene but completely forgot about it. Now everything makes sense.

Having Deathstroke back immediately elevates the show. Slade Wilson was the best part of season 2 and having him back washes away all the stupid from seasons 3 and 4
