I think Barenaked Ladies' " History of the World" ranks up there with the best but my personal favorite is the English Sailor Moon theme song https://youtu.be/BUqpAeVyqEI

Here a "WORST" song. For current TV - I'd say WESTWORLD. I know some love it, but I think it's a boring piece of music. When the song from the original 1973 film is better, you know you have issues.
But then again, WESTWORLD was kind of a boring show. Yeah, it was a 'slow-burn', but it really seemed like they had enough material for about 6-7 shows, and just stretched it out to hit the 10 episode mark.
The direction they decided to take it was interesting. But I don't see how it can continue and be successful.

I agree with you. It was more swingin' than the original tune. As for my favorite, I have to go with the theme from Peter Gunn.

The theme to Monty Python I always thought reflected the silliness of the show. The Sopranos was already mentioned (great song), and I'll add Entourage to that.
And sorry to mention it, but I liked the theme to Friends. It was not my idea, however, to play it on the radio every five seconds in 1995 and 1996.

I always thought the old Hawaii 5-0 theme song rocked out.
If we're including cartoons in this, then I always got a kick out of the theme song for Pinky And The Brain.

I haven't watched any of the latest season, pretty much lost interest and the "New" girl isn't still "New" after 6 years. But my recollection is they rarely - if ever - played the long version of the theme after season 1. And even in season 1 it was usually shortened.
