I've actually sick of Spiderman movies because I feel it's been done to death , but the only reason I'll watch this one is Micheal Keaton.

How many times are they going to reboot this character? I certainly hope we ONCE AGAIN don't have to see Uncle Ben die.

Frankly, this is yet another example of how Hollywood can't turn out anything of originality. But Marvel and DC will keep churning out this junk until people stop flocking to see it. Me? I may watch it on cable next year. But we won't be going to spend precious summer moments on the THIRD incarnation of this character in a little more than 15 years. I'm more interested in seeing Wonder Woman. At least that will be NEW on the big screen. I stopped watching these films at the theater after THE AVENGERS. And we've got everything after that cued up on DVR.

We did watch BATMAN vs SUPERMAN - DAWN OF JUSTICE on HBO a month or so ago. Hopefully that's not the best DC has to offer.

That said, they all HAVE to be better than the ID4 sequel. I just watched that last weekend when I had insomnia. Now that was a complete piece of Roland Emmerich feces. At the end they hint at future ID4 films, but I think they did a better job of killing that franchise than killing the aliens. That film was a complete mess. I was almost rooting for the aliens to win.

For the first time that I can remember - I think that the true quality right now lies in TV's best shows, not in cinema. With shows like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, The Americans, The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, (I could list a dozen more), the superior quality these days is on the small screen.

Originality is a foreign concept to Hollywood now. The new trend is resurrecting every old movie and television show in hopes they can market to nostalgia (e.g power rangers, Blade runner, Baywatch , etc) Not saying it doesn't work but I'd rather see new and innovative ideas.

This movie will most likely be great as all of the MCU films have been so far. As far as "done to death" goes, there's only been 5 Spider-Man movies. There's been over 20 James Bond movies and over 50 Tarzan movies and 7 Batman movies. There's no reason to think the character can't still be entertaining if it is in the right hands like Marvel Studios.

People don't get sick of James Bond becuase it's been nuanced, we've had an arrogant Bond, a rougue bond, a cartoonishly romantic Bond, a stoic Bond etc. The franchise has portrayed the chracter and his adventures different ways. Hollywood makes the same Spiderman movie with the same plot arc exploring the exact same central theme , changing the villain and thinking it makes a new film. It doesn't feel any different. I'll credit them that their recent versions of Spiderman have been truer to the comics.

BTW I'm also sick of Tarzan. The one direction I don't mind Hollywood going is adapting anime as long as they don't stray away too far from the source material . Ghost in the Shell should be a good ride if I decide to go see it this weekend.

I could live the rest of my life and be just fine if there was NEVER another Tarzan movie or adaptation of any kind. Also, I don't ever need to see any more SINBAD films (classic films - not the comedian).

It would be one thing to reboot franchises - IF THEY WERE GOOD. But Hollywood can't be counted on to do that. A list of remake failures is easy to make.

THE KARATE KID remake. Complete trash.
Remake of ARTHUR. Complete trash THE BAD NEWS BEARS. Close to complete trash.

I could go on. But SPIDERMAN getting it's third incarnation in less than 2 decades is absurd. Like I said earlier, I certainly hope we don't have to watch Uncle Ben die AGAIN. How are we supposed to feel any emotion for that character? The way they keep churning out the same story over and over again makes the SPIDERMAN franchise feel more like GROUNDHOG DAY.

As for BATMAN, yeah, there's been many incarnations of him too. But not as fast a turnover as SPIDERMAN. The Burton version - and that particular nature of the franchise, was started nearly 30 years ago in 1989. It gave us 4 (IMO poor) films in 6 years. Then, after an 8 year layoff, we got the fascinating "DARK KNIGHT" series of 3 films over 7 years. I'm not sure what to call this Ben Affleck BATMAN. But at least the series isn't starting from scratch again.

SPIDERMAN on the other hand, starts right from the beginning - over and over again. We got the Sam Rami/Tobey Maguire series of 3 films in 5 years. Each one worse than the last. So they reboot it and start from scratch again - after just 5 years. And we get 2 Andrew Garfield/AMAZING SPIDERMAN films. The first one was really good. The 2nd one was lousy, and killed the next 2 sequels they already had in the works. The answer? Reboot it AGAIN, after only 3 years. Too much, too soon, and most of it really isn't that good. It's just a hard sell (for me at least) to buy into another franchise reboot so quickly.

In any event, there are simply FAR TOO MANY of these 'Super Hero' films right now. Seems like they are a monthly occurrence. With, IMO, very very poor stories where the film feels more like a "theme park ride", and is WAY over-reliant on special effects and computer enhancement. Where's this generations Alfred Hitchcock or Martin Scorsese? Giving us great great stories filmed in unique and ground breaking ways? Naaaa. Why hold the standard that high when we can just get another ID4 film with lots of fireballs, or God help us, more f__king Transformer movies. Or SPIDERMAN 8. Even the so-called great "STAR WARS" films. Beyond the first 2 released films, STAR WARS and EMPIRE, if you really look at the series, most of it is long boring garbage. The 3 prequels were big money generators, but even most Star Wars fans will tell you they stunk. With the exception of about 20 minutes of SITH. I didn't think much of the next Star Wars film, and haven't seen ROUGUE ONE yet - so I'm holding out hope.

Don't get me wrong, I get a kick out of an occassional Super Hero flick. But the studios are pumping this stuff out non-stop. Then, come Oscar time, we get a bunch of films nobody has even seen because they were in such a small release. Even Scorsese can't get his projects off the ground anymore. It took him DECADES to get his pet project SILENCE off the ground. And he pulls a lot of weight.

I'm with Scorsese. Cinema is dead. Where's this year's DANCES WITH WOLVES?? I doubt we'll ever have another year like 1994, with Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption, Hoop Dreams, Quiz Show, Forrest Gump, among others. I doubt QUIZ SHOW or Forrest Gump or Shawshank could even get made today. It's not just the studios, it's the movie-going public that keeps the demand for endless "LOGAN" and IRON MAN films. Because when you get a decent film like BRIDGE OF SPIES, it seems hardly anyone under the age of 50 wants to see the damn thing.

"What? No explosions?? No one in a cape??? What gives??"

Okay, I'm rambling now. Almost like a Spiderman reboot.

The studio's buy the rights and then a bunch of movies get ordered in bulk, so the superhero movies will always be one after another.

But I have the same gripe as you, I don't need to see three iterations of the same character within the same two decades if the movie's are going to be the same.
