大岛幸子（石原里美 饰）生活在一个幸福的家庭之中，父母恩爱，对这个乖巧的小女儿又格外的宠爱。然而，这个看似其乐融融的家庭里，隐藏着一个惊人的秘密，那就是幸子其实并非亲生，而是姑姑大岛理惠（高桥惠子 饰）的孩子。当年，理惠和名为相良（内藤刚志 饰）的上司之间产生了不伦之恋，怀上了幸子，因为不想做单亲妈妈，于是理惠将幸子托付给了姐姐一家。

一次偶然中，幸子邂逅了名为光夫（藤原龙也 饰）的男子，一来二去之间，两人产生了真挚的感情，然而，光夫的父亲不是别人，正是当年的相良，这也就意味着，幸子和光夫是同父异母的兄妹。

Sachiko is de 17-jarige dochter van radiotherapeut professor Oshima. Na blootstelling aan straling in het ziekenhuis ontwikkelt ze leukemie. Alsof dat nog niet genoeg problemen is voor een heel leven, ontdekt Sachiko dat Oshima niet haar echte vader is, en dat haar vriend in werkelijkheid haar halfbroer is.

Sachiko is the 17-year old daughter of radiotherapist Professor Oshima. After exposure to radiation in the hospital, she develops leukemia. As if that was not enough trouble for one lifetime, Sachiko discovers that Oshima is not her real father, and that her boyfriend is really her half brother.

붉은 의혹은 붉은 시리즈로 제작된 10편 중 하나로, 1980년에 연예계를 은퇴한 야마구치 모모에의 대표작이자 실제 부부가 된 미우라 토모카즈와모모에 콤비의 작품으로도 유명한데 30년 만에 리메이크되는 이번 드라마에서는 이시하라 사토미, 후지와라 타츠야가 호흡을 맞추었다.
