Discuss Project Runway

Not a good start.

What I liked: The new workroom. The diversity of the contestants. The new female judge.

What is I didn't like:

Bland host. Bland mentor. The male judge, trying way too hard to be funny.

The fashion: A good, not great runway. I think I'd have gone with the other top look for the win.

Now to the worst of the worst: O M G they didn't send that blue bodysuit home. I get the feeling that it was because she is nice and nobody likes the WASP princess. Another decision like that and I may not continue.

I'll likely miss this week's episode and will have to pick it up later. Dear wife and I are on our way to the North American Science Fiction Convention in Winnipeg. TV watching very iffy when we are at conventions. We do have an entry for the masquerade/cosplay competition. We'll see how it does.

Glad to see you!! I wonder if Costumers will show up?

I am liking the season and happy to see some the returning designers. I am having some big disagreeements with the judges which makes it interesting, I guess🤣

I didn't like Laurence's look at all, I acutally would have had her in the bottom with Kayne. I think Prajje was the clear winner and Bishme the clear runner up.

No, no, no was Laurence's look at the bottom. It wasn't great nor horrible, imo. It needed more.

I do wonder why some of the people were cast in an all-star season. Hello, Anna.

I believe some people get to return due to their availability.

Brittany has been a pleasant suprise. Her winning look from the last challenge I think has been my favorite of the season so far.

Yes, that was a nice look. Glad it won.

Agree to disagree. I thought the cone bra looked more 80's than 90's and the pants were messy. IMO. But it wasn't the worst. I can't remember who else was in the bottom besides Fabio and Kayne, but it was worse.

I can't believe the losing team chose to buy lace instead of leather. Plus, they had too much plaid. Ugh! The show comes on tonight, but I usually watch it on Saturday in order to luxuriate over it.

I will probably watch tonight but later.

Good luck to you.

Thursday's episode: This was a tough one for me because I HAAAAATE the underwear as outerware look, I hate sheer over underwear, all of it. But that said, i think the judges got it right. For the winner, the top two looks were equal in my eyes. Just a very different demographic for each. Kara's was very classic, and a certain kind of woman would definitely wear it. A little on the more mature side. Rami's to me was younger and hipper, I could totally see a lot of young A-listers wearing it. I think I'd have given him the win for that reason. I think Prajje had the most interesting look potentially but the execution wasn't quite there. I really like what he has been doing this season. I think he is one of the favorites at this point.

As for the bottom, several others could have been in the bottom but sadly it was Fabio's time to go. His look was wrong for all the reasons the judges said. He hasn't done anything else to keep him around. He just didn't have it this season. frowning_face Korto could just as easily have gone based on her garment for this challenge. It was clearly a last minute throw together. But she has had good looks and a win so I think that is why they kept her. I can't argue with that.

I hate when they do that challenge, because most designers don't do underwear. Plus, it's boring to see it on a fashion show, imo.

Me either. It was time for Fabio the draper to go home.

This was an interesting challenge but it reminds me of the same red fabric challenge. I'm glad my girl, Laurence won, but I want to see more interesting challenges than this one.

Plus, it was nice that Christian saved his old pal, but I don't think his pal was worth saving.

Well, we're back. Did fairly well. Won both a presentation and workmanship award.

We've caught up to the episodes. I can't say I disagree with most of the judge's decisions. Its sad that Kane is gone. Sandy really liked him. She was also made that Fabio was kicked. And Rami was also one of her favorites. She was happy Christian saved him.

I agree on the underwear challenge. Neither of us likes that style at all. The denim one was a better concept for us. We've seen that done a number of times, here and elsewhere. Usually, they just use denim fabric. Having to get their material from existing garments was a nice alternative and we thought most of the designs were pretty good. Even the bottom ones weren't bad, just not as good.

I'm rather frustrated with Annie. I've liked a number of her looks, but she doesn't seem to listen. Bleaching her first look to make it white was a perfectly good idea. But she didn't rinse it out and she was told to do that. And it should have been obvious. Bleach is caustic. We've experimented with it, both in denim and other fabrics. You can get interesting effects; but to date we haven't really hit a design that would benefit from the technique.

I don't get what is up with her at all.

I haven’t watched the episode yet but I’m still trying to figure out why Anna is even there. Maybe a replacement for someone they really wanted?

Most likely. I don't remember her from previous seasons.

While I don't remember her specifically, I do remember some of her looks from the memory shots they've shown. I've liked some of those; but I could say that about any of the designers, even ones I strongly dislike (from a design, not personal perspective)

I agree with both of you that this challenge was a meh. I think they have to do better and get rid of some of the old warhorses. "Oh, it's the unconventional materials challenge" and "the makeover challenge!" Repurposing old fabric has already been done this season, as you say.

I think I would have given the Korto the win this time. I think she did the best job of transforming the fabric. And I can't believe I am saying this, but I liked Anna's look a lot. With more time for execution she could have had a winner. Which is her fault. Even the bottom looks weren't terrible, and I think Prajje's was the worst. But Rami, much like Fabio before him, just hasn't done anything much to recommend keeping him.

The save was a compleely emotional decision from Christian which is kind of nice to see. He's been such a cold fish for much of the reboot. The saved designer always goes home soon after anyway. And I still think Chrisitan puts himself into the designs too much. He usually is spot on with the problems but let them figure it out, especially in an all-star season. Looking forward to the next episode.
