...playing it with evil Cooper. Or so it seems. I thought the SMS thing would turn out to be some kind of misunderstanding but she was more than suspicious in episode 11. Maybe the meeting she had with Cooper (the one Gordon asks her about) was actually with Evil Cooper - but what would that even mean?

Or she's playing both sides in order to trap or set up Mr. C. to get caught by Cole and Albert. The only thing that stops me from believing she's willingly working with Mr. C. is because of the fear and utter disgust she displayed when she was alone with Mr. C. in the jail. She could have been pretending, but to what end? She demanded to see Mr. C. alone, so nobody was with her or watching/listening when she was asking him to look into her eyes and tell her who he really is.

She was alone with him, as she demanded, but the others were listening to their conversation - how would Gordon know about their meeting (he asks Diane about it outside)? That would explain her "acting" around Evil Cooper.

I had forgotten they were listening in the other room. I thought Diane had asked them not to. Thank you for the correction.

very interesting. not sure if she's a doooleganger, but the mirrored image must mean something.

The way CANDIE behaves when she says there was so much TRAFFIC outside also makes one think she's from another different ERA.

And the bedroom of DOUGIE'S son is also filled with stuff from the 50's or 60's and doesn't look like the bedroom of a boy from this time frame either.

He's got COWBOY CURTAINS, for example, and cowboy shows aren't aired anymore like they use to be.

And he's also got a VIEW MASTER sitting beside his bed on the table that was made back in the 50's.

Their living room is also full of other stuff that looks like it's from the 60's and they have an OLD FASHIONED LAND LINE PHONE HANGING up on the WALL.

Lot's of strange things seem to be going on in the show that makes one wonder if COOP isn't the only being to return back from the LODGE again after having been there for 25 YEARS.

I've been thinking about this and if the Diane we've been seeing is in fact a doppelgänger, then where is the real Diane? and wouldn't Gordon and Albert notice something odd about this Diane? they don't seem to find anything odd about her, though they did notice something odd about Evil Cooper. But I do agree that lots of characters are acting weird. I rewatched episode 9 and caught this scene where Beverly is trying to seduce Ben and I thought that maybe she is also some kind of evil character. What do you think of Beverly?

Yes Albert and Cole have noticed something odd about Diane. They suspect Diane of sending/receiving texts possibly from EVIL COOP. They have been talking about her and watching her and monitoring/tracking the texts she receives and sends. They know something is up with her- It's the reason why they asked her to join their task force. They want to watch her and see what she does. Last night she texted those numbers off murder victim Ruth's arm to someone.

Cole tells Albert. " I felt it when she hugged me." As of right now we don't know exactly what the "it" in his statement means.

But I do agree that lots of characters are acting weird.

They are , but then acting weird is actually quite the norm in Twin Peaks.

What exactly was the PURPOSE for DOUGIE?

Why was he created?

This has been asked (by you)several times, We have discussed this so many times here I can't tell you in which thread or how many threads it is in - and there are a whole LOT of back TWIN PEAKS pages here.

If it was to replace COOP, then why wait until 97 to do it???

It was NOT to replace COOP. And I don't know WHY the year 1997.

Some of us theorized that DOUGIE was manufactured by BOB or EVIL COOP or whoever may be in charge of evil- SO EVIL COOP would have a body to inhabit/ to stay here in/hide out in/ instead of going back to the lodge.

I meant they didn't seem to notice anything odd about her character, although they did notice something odd about her actions, hence the monitoring ( I don't know if I'm being clear, sorry)

Didn't notice this, it could mean Gordon noticed something was wrong in Diane's heart.

But I do agree that lots of characters are acting weird.

Haha this is correct, but weird here means weirder than weird :)

I know, I end up raising questions in just one or two threads out of laziness/ lack of time to go through the board.

Question: who is the flirty French woman?!

About the purpose of Dougie: I am inclined to think, as @Invidia, that Mike created him. I agree that Mike has been somehow protective of Cooper/Dougie, which is reason to believe Mike might have manufactured Dougie in order to create a vessel for Cooper to come back (?)

@Invidia said:

Since it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that either BEVERLY or AUDREY would marry men like we see them married to in the show, my new theory is someone's been busy creating STEREOTYPED CHARACTERS (like the FLIRTY FRENCH WOMAN who tries to seduce COLE).

more than being married to unlikely men, beverly and audrey have the same necklace (i just started a thread because of this)

nevermind my question about the french woman, was an episode behind. now that i have seen episode 12, i found it very curious that diane enters the hotel room from a red velvet curtain. it surely wasn't free of meaning.

Why would EVIL COOP create a BODY for COOP to inhabit so he could stay here?

NOT for COOP- for EVIL COOP- the body was for himself.

EVIL COOP wanted/needed a body here to inhabit / to stay here in/hide out in/ instead of going back to the lodge

Perhaps it was MIKE who created DOUGIE?

When you said this before, I said: MIKE was surprised- he did not KNOW, until DOUGIE melted. MIKE obviously knew nothing about it.

So maybe it makes more sense for MIKE to have made DOUGIE than for EVIL COOP to have created him?

No. Not to me it doesn't.

So maybe the PURPOSE of creating DOUGIE was also to keep JANEY E amused???

What reason would they have to even want to or worry about JANEY E being amused?

The same way as it would be if someone also created a CARDBOARD CUT OUT of a SHIRTLESS COOP for you???

grinning

relaxed

Nope. I'd actually need the real thing to be amused wink

Oh, ok. No problem wink

I am still waiting for them to have that "alone" talk Diane promised she would have with Cole.

What do you mean? That Mike wasn't aware of Dougie's existence? Why do you think that?

Hey, Janey-E is a though, often scary, lady 😉

I did not say he wasn't aware of his existence- I said he was not aware of his having been manufactured.

Did you see that scene acf? When manufactured Dougie went back to the Lodge with MIKE/THE ONE ARMED MAN?

I already answered this : MIKE was surprised - he did not KNOW, until DOUGIE melted. MIKE obviously knew nothing about it.

And just in case, for clarity purposes , I am talking about the Dougie that melted and turned back into a gold ball- not the same Dougie/Cooper married to Janey-E.

Hey, Janey-E is a though, often scary, lady.

Being tough and scary does not even come close to trumping Black Lodge EVIL.

Why would EVIL COOP and/or BOB give a hoot owl about her amusement?
