The series was canceled and the episodes were left unaired in the origin country.

Amazon currently holds distribution rights to this show and officially released season 2 on October 15, 2023, in the United States.

Prime Video released the season on that date in Australia and New Zealand only. The second season remains unaired and there is currently no way to legally watch any episodes in the US.

Sorry, I misinterpreted the imdb details. It is worth noting that it has since been made available in Germany via Amazon Prime. Unfortunately, the streaming release dates for these episodes are incorrect and currently read "1 January 2023". The buy option shows the NZ/AUS release date; October 15, 2023. It might be the wrong information, but it is the current information.

How can it be canceled and a second season exist at the same time? I understand it’s unreleased in the US but the show DOES exist.

It is cancelled in its origin country, but kept in other countries.
The regular seasons should reflect the broadcast on the origin network in the origin country.

That makes absolutely no sense. Can you point to a guideline or source for why it “should”? There are services depending on the accuracy of the information displayed here and hiding a season in the specials is frankly ridiculous. I’d also like to point out that there are DOZENS of threads open on this issue and clearly the community is not agreeing with your judgment on this. Again, please provide a source better than “because I said so”.

This is the first sentence here : "Episodes should be added exactly as they first aired on the original network".
As explained, these episodes didn't air on the original network of the series.
An episode group is available for the Amazon Prime broadcast.

As mentioned by multiple people already, the policy seems ill-designed if it cannot handle this case and should be re-evaluated. But also, this policy seems to be inconsistently applied. What about cases like The Expanse whose latter seasons were not broadcast on the original network either? They still exist as seasons 4, 5, and 6 on TMDB.

This is not the same case. For "The Expanse", the series 4 to 6 were produced for the new broadcaster who has bought the series.
Here, the episodes were produced before the cancellation.

I understand. Can you direct me to who I can talk to about changing the wording on that policy, as clearly that was not designed for a world in which corporations prefer to shelf finished pieces of art in exchange for tax breaks? Thanks.

If you going to be this strict with your policy then you sure doesn't want something that is clearly on no website, database, company papers, billboards, you name it, labeled as Specials of a series, be falsely present on this website as a special. Where did you get your information that those film materials are specials? Can you please provide us with any reference to it being classified as specials, best to be indicated by the original production company. If you are unable to do so, you just pick wrong unreliable information over the right and correct information from the community. At least put it in the right classification, as those clearly aren't any published specials by the original production company. Being a metadata provider providing data to other sources that are relying on your accuracy, you sure don't want your data to reflect wrongfully non-existing specials.

The specials season is the season where we put all the episodes that doesn't fit in the regular seasons.
In this specific case, they are the episodes that weren't broadcasted on the original network of the series due to the cancellation.
There are no need for them to be considered as specials on other site, as each site has its own set of rules.
