Item: Shape Island
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: Hi! I would like to know why a mod keeps deleting logos that I uploaded and re-uploading the exact same logos (same color, size and format). What is wrong with the images I uploaded? Here are some examples:

Hi Davidal, they're not the same exact color. Apple TV+ has a pretty significant color space bug where their PNG images are washed out compared to their WEBP ones. Here's one example (use the slider tab): https://www.textcompare.org/image/?id=65513635fa2c06769fb14c9d
Another more obvious example: https://www.textcompare.org/image/?id=655134e4fa2c06769fb14c8e
Or compare these two images hosted directly on Apple TV+:

You've probably noticed that I've also been replacing logos on other entries, primarily Netflix. In those cases I just download, auto-crop and upload the logos in bulk and sometimes the width or height just differs by a little bit. I'll refrain from replacing them in the future though, especially if the changes are not too obvious!

I understand that the PNG images might be a little washed out compared to the WEBP ones (and I don't think it's a bug, I think it's due to how the formats handle color/saturation), but I don't see that as a fair reason to remove the logos I uploaded, they were still good quality, with sharp edges. In fact, I don't see in the Contribution Bible that an image should be removed just because it has a small color difference. It's frustrating because I wasted an hour uploading those logos and they get removed just because of a small color difference. Also, removing a logo just because of a 1 pixel difference is frustrating too, as I reported here. My concern here is that the logos are being removed just because someone does not like them and not because I'm violating the Contribution Bible rules.

I don't see how it isn't a bug in one way or another if it results in images with washed out colors.
It also affects non-Apple TV+ originals, although not as frequently, which makes it easier to see which file format is showing the color as it was intended since the art might also be available from other sources. In the cases where the colors in the WEBP image noticeably differ from the colors in the PNG/JPEG image, if you compare the WEBP image to the same art found through other sources, the colors are almost always very similar, if not exactly the same.
Some examples:

And the logo, whose colors did not change between PNG and WEBP; the color code for "ALERT" is a match to the logo in the WEBP image above: https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/suUfZmYWzIdrdS3YV6pkS6Qmhae.png

That's true, and the Contribution Bible actually says not to report duplicate images with different colorings. But if the reason for the different colors is because of a bug in the distribution system for the image, rather than actual variations in the promotional materials, personally I don't think "because it was uploaded first" is really a good reason for keeping an image with inaccurate colors or for not uploading the correct image at all. Not my place to comment on that any further, though.
