This limited television series on Lifetime is adapted from the novels of 'The Cutler Family Series', which was written by ghostwriter Andrew Neiderman. He was chosen to continue the legacy of author V.C. Andrews after her death on December 19, 1986.

There are four episodes. Each episode is based on one of the same-tilted novels: "Dawn (1990)", "Secrets of the Morning (1991)", "Twilight's Child (1992)" and "Midnight Whispers (1992)".

Although there are five novels in 'The Cutler Family Series', it seems like there will be no adaptation of the fifth novel "Darkest Hour (1993)", which is about Dawn's step-grandmother, Lillian.
