Former science teacher Tony Conroy now works the night shift as a taxi driver in Liverpool, living a solitary life as he drifts through the monotony of picking up and dropping off passengers night in and night out. After an uncomfortable conversation with a former colleague, Tony feels a desperate need to talk to someone and decides to call late-night radio show NightTalk. Rob advises Tony to leave town, revealing Ste Murray is involved with dangerous people - but shortly after the taxi driver is stunned when Lawrence hails his cab, stunned that he is finally getting to meet his hero. But he gets a shock to realise the radio presenter is the complete opposite of his public persona.

A vengeful Tony creeps into Lawrence's house to face him. Lawrence thinks he's being burgled, until he recognises the intruder as the cabbie who picked him up earlier that night.
