I agree some what. I love both series, but UFO's premise is plausible where as 1999's is ridiculous beyond belief.

lol scientifically speaking, I'm not sure which would win the ridiculous beyond belief award: aliens sending interstellar flying saucers with green men, or the moon cruising off to distant galaxies. Take em both for what they're worth: great shows that are really fun to watch. Science fiction, by definition, is meant to be outlandish if not absurd. If we're talking realism, every scifi show would lose me the minute anyone travels outside the solar system in under an hour (it took Voyager 36 years).

Cranial-Rectumosis is such a tragic condition.

Did I lose you on the big words?

If you have trouble with the English language, I can let you borrow my dictionary so you can join in intelligent discussions. Or at least pretend. We're here to help.

I'm not the one posting completely ignorant statements, friend. You are.

I'm going to challenge your intelligence. Reply in a civil manner, noting exactly what made you so angry about my comment.

And you accuse ME of not being civil? To challenge my intelligence, you'd have to have some yourself. This is my last reply here because you're not worth the trouble. I wish you total happiness in your complete ignorance.

It's ok if big words make you feel angry and insecure. Just try not to be so obvious about it, and nobody will think less of you. Cheers.

I was raised to be a Gentleman. I sincerely apologize for insulting you. Again, no disrespect or insult intended, but you are woefully ignorant regarding what is really happening on this planet, man.

What is woefully ignorant? Again, I'm just trying to figure out what you found so offensive about my original comment that scifi is supposed to be slightly absurdist. I'm using "absurd" in the literary sense, as in realism, surrealism & absurdism.

Perhaps I misinterpreted you. I took your "absurdist" statement as your view of reality. I am approaching 60 years old. I've been a student of the UFO phenomenon since I was in 5th grade. I understood you to say that simply because Earth does not have the technology to leave our star system that no other planet in the Universe is able to leave theirs either. This planet has been under observation and experimentation by several alien races since Mesopotamia. That's your cue to roll your eyes and dismiss me as a nut.

The UFO series aliens were not green men, they were humanoid, very much like Earth humans since they were getting organ transplants. The skin coloring came from the liquid their ships and "space suits" were filled with, likely to protect them from G-forces in acceleration/deceleration.
