《假面骑士》，是由每日放送和东映联合出品，从1979年10月5日到1980年10月10日起，于TBS系列每周五19：00-19：30（JST）播出的特摄电视剧作品，共54集，以及作品中主人公变身的英雄的名称。相当于「假面骑士」系列第6部。本作前期在立意和设定上都致敬了1971年的假面骑士系列第一作《假面骑士》，并有着自己的特色，主角变身后并不像以往作品标题名字那样喊出骑士名字，而是叫作“假面骑士”，即并非“假面骑士Sky”一称，他的真名叫“天空骑士”，也同样采用了初代的风车腰带和基本变身动作；而本作前期消灭怪人时并非以往的“爆炸”，而是“消失”；必杀技并非以往的独创技而是“骑士踢”。但在后期路线变更，前作骑士纷纷回归，主角的称呼由“假面骑士”变更为“天空骑士”，且采用了消灭怪人后的“爆炸”，“骑士踢”再次改为“天空踢”。

Doctor Keitaro Shido, an acclaimed scientist, has been kidnapped by the terrorist organization Neo-Shocker to exploit his expertise in robotics technology. Desperate to escape, he convinces Neo-Shocker's command to allow him to operate on an injured camper. Explaining that he can turn the camper, Hiroshi Tsukuba into a powerful Neo-Shocker warrior, they allow Doctor Shido to operate. However, he quickly turns the tables on them, transforming Hiroshi, not into a kaijin, but the powerful warrior Sky Rider, using his newfound abilities to combat the evil Neo-Shocker menace.
