Mama Pope to return?

Just read that Khandi Alexander recently did an interview and she said she was excited to come back to Scandal and then she corrected herself by saying, “If I come back”.
Maybe it's a honest slip by her, but could be interesting if she did come back.

Id be okay with her returning, though I don't get how she would be written back into the story.

Might explain who killed Frankie and long ago questions about Eli and Olivia. Looking forward to that.

If Mama Pope killed Frankie, I'll be disappointed. It would seem like such a copout.
