Discuss Dance Moms

I know the show is in it's final season, but I'm hoping more people will come here soon to talk about the show. In spite of all the ups and downs this show has seen, I still tune in every week. I can't help it. It's my guilty pleasure. I know Abby's in big trouble with the government right now, and I haven't really followed it, so I can't comment on it other than to say that in spite of how harsh she's always been with people, and hasn't always been a decent human being, I still kind of feel bad for her. She built her studio from the ground as a teenager! That takes a lot of gumption! How many people can say they've done something like this? Not many, that's for sure.

What's really interesting though is that I've watched these kids grow from about second season on (I missed the first season). It still amazes me how down to earth most of the girls are, and just how different from their moms they are (with Nia being the exception. She's a lot like her mom and that's a really good thing). These girls have always shown a maturity their moms lack. It's almost like they've had no choice but to grow up fast to counter-balance the craziness of their moms.

Something else I've noticed over the years is that while Kelly and Christi definitely were crazy, they and the other moms (with the exception of Melissa) always banded together where the girls were concerned (i.e. in protecting the girls from anything, especially Abby). But the current group of moms just don't have that ability it seems. They all fight amongst themselves and that's it. Yeah, the previous group fought a lot too, but when push came to shove they almost always had each others' backs. I miss that.

It's unfortunate that the producers ruined the last few seasons with their massive attempts to get as much negative drama going as possible. With Abby on the scene, they didn't need to stir things up. That was bound to happen all on its own.

And, I have to say (since I'm sure everyone who watches this show has seen the previews two weeks ago) that I'm thrilled to see that Chloe is returning for the final episode. I think it's awesome. So, the final episode is going to be bittersweet. I'll miss seeing the girls dance and compete each week, but I'm excited to see the girls and Chloe reunite.

HI, I'm just learning my way around here .... I have watched on and off for years. My daughter and I watch now and we are just astonished at the moms behavior (although, I am happy that Holly seems to have returned as the voice of reason) I really don't understand why they are so mean to each other - it .... AND so hypocritical. They seem to be lashing out in front of the kids too - they really should be ashamed. Other than that - I watch because I like the dancing (I have no talent myself LOL)

They fight because they want their kids to get ahead, and the other girls are their competition. It doesn't matter that they're on the same team. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe parents of child actors are the same way, possibly worse.

At any rate, I'm watching the final episode of the season and perhaps of the show itself. I'm confused because it only recorded for an hour but it seems I came in in the middle of the episode. They're directly in the competition phase, so it seems I've missed the rehearsals and everything before it. Kind of frustrating because it seems it's not going to re-air (I've checked and no upcoming showings are listed).

Oh well.

I think it's sweet that Lily's dad wrote the song for her solo.

I also think that this is the best I've seen all the girls dance. Kind of sad that out of all the seasons, this is the best they've been.

Hey, has anyone heard if Abby's been convicted yet? Is she for sure going to jail?

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:

OMG! I'm cracking up that Candy Apples got FOURTH place! Hahahahahaha! Yes, they dance beautifully but I'm so glad Cathy lost! And Abby and the girls won! Cathy is such a sore loser.

It was good to see Chloe again and I hope that if there is another season that it does include Chloe and Christi. I've really missed them.

I haven't watched it yet (mom daughter time tonight LOL) I guess your right about the moms. I never looked at it that way, plus, I'm not real competitive so I don't think (at least I hope not grin )I would be so critical of another kid.

I can't wait to see Chloe - It's good that she got out. Her mom looked so much better on the preview too.

Did you watch it? I'm very angry because apparently it was on an hour earlier than normal and was two hours long, and my DVR only kicked in at the normal time for the last hour, so I missed the entire first half. That said, I was very glad to see Chloe and even Christi. I kind of miss her craziness.

Spoilers ahead:

I like how they left it. There's a possibility of a new season, or perhaps a new show altogether.

Maybe I'm too competitive. Thing is, the moms are always at each other's throats. They always fight about who got the solo, or who got "x" amount of attention from Abby. What I always liked was that the girls didn't treat each other that way. They tried to get along with each other, and accepted that their moms were just going to fight and there was nothing they could do about it.
