After a party at Tommy's house is broken up by the police, Paul chastises his friend and unwittingly volunteers to host the next one. But when the party gets out of control too, the kids think of him as a cool parent, while the neighborhood parents think he's just as unreliable as Tommy.

Paul veut donner une leçon aux enfants qui injurient Rory mais il humilie son fils en se rendant en pantoufles au lycée. Kerry et Bridget se rendent à une fête organisée chez Tommy mais la police l'a interrompue. Paul engueule alors Tommy et le traite de père irresponsable et se porte volontaire pour organiser la prochaine réunion chez lui. Durant la deuxième soirée, Paul s'endort et laisse les enfants sans contrôle. Les enfants s'intéressent à lui et le surnomme Père trop cool.

Bridget va ad una festa che però viene interrotta dalla polizia. Paul è costretto ad andare a prendere la figlia per portarla a casa. Sebbene conosca il significato di essere padre, Paul non si sospetta certo che la bella Bridget, 16 anni, è la ragazza più popolare della scuola e che cambia fidanzato ogni settimana. Impensabile anche credere che Kerry, 15 anni, pur essendo intelligente e carina, abbia poca fiducia in se stessa e che cerchi di nascondere questa insicurezza nel sarcasmo. Ma forse gli resta l'ultimo nato, il "maschio" di casa Rory, 13 anni, che per ora sembra l'unico con un briciolo di "normalità" in testa.

Weil Paul in Hausschuhen in Rorys Schule auftaucht, müssen die Kinder die Hänseleien der Mitschüler ertragen. Derweil hat die Polizei eine Party bei Pauls Arbeitskollegen Tommy aufgelöst. Paul und Cate müssen Bridget und Kerry abholen, ohne es jedoch zu versäumen, Tommy eine Standpauke über Aufsichtpflicht zu halten. Die nächste Party findet denn auch im Hause Hennessy statt. Jetzt nimmt es Paul mit der Aufsichtpflicht nicht so genau – doch die Kids finden ihn richtig cool …
