Item: Frontline

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: I’ve been updating Frontline to add recent missing episodes. As I’ve added episodes, I’ve added them at the end of the season (even though they aired earlier) so as not to unnecessarily renumber episodes. For example, I’ve added S38E16-S38E20 at the end of S38, even though to show the episode in OAD order, they should be inserted between S38E01 and S38E02.

Q1: Should I renumber the episodes to reflect OAD order? Is that something I should do or an admin?

Q2: Other than the official Frontline web site (https://www.pbs.org/show/frontline/), I can’t find another reliable source for season and episode info. I created a discussion here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/4384-frontline/discuss/5f20877d4a2226003666fe63 and was directed not to update season numbers to years, but to leave them as ordinal numbers. I’m fine with that, but we need a source to use as new episodes are aired. What source should we use?

TVGuide was offered (https://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/frontline/episodes/191522/), but the page has a glitch where users can’t see S31-S37. TVGuide also doesn’t have S39 yet.

IMDB (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133302/episodes?season=38) looks mostly correct. Should it be the source for ordinal season and episode numbers?

Q3: I created an episode group for the last 2 years to group the TMDB episodes to match the Frontline web site. Since it’s my 1st time doing this, did I create the episode group correctly?

I see they have already been reordered to reflect the original airing order. Feel free to do it yourself but always double-checked the data before doing so.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea why/how contributors chose the current season split.

Sure. The group should ideally start with the year1983, but the order can easily be changed.

I had not received a response to my post, so I made the updates referencing Frontline.

If you look at earlier seasons, starting with S34 and earlier, you'll see all the episodes in a season are in the same calendar year. I would like to propose seasons 35 and later also follow this model. For example, S34 would remain as is and the S35 would start with the episode titled "President Trump", OAD 2017/01/03 and contain only the episodes that aired in 2017. Is there away for users to move episodes between seasons? Can you or another admin move the appropriate episodes accordingly?

If anyone can provide a reference that explains the current TMDB season split, I'll be happy to use that.

I created the episode group to try to resolve the ordinal season numbers vs. calendar year season numbers. After playing with it a while, I've decided the effort of creating the episode group isn't worth it for me. Can you delete my episode group?
