Morse and Joan's "getting together"? Does he NOT see what is before his eyes? He told George Fancy that he had "eyes" and was aware of George's feelings for Trewlove. Why then, does he not say even one word of encouragement for their coupling? I can think of two possibilities:

  1. He is much too close to the situation and just cannot see what is right in front of him or
  2. He does not think Morse is suitable for Joan
