Well, it was basically a cliffhanger season finale, as I expected. Probably episode 13 resolves at least some of it, but we won't see it until later.
Oh, and Alicia said the temperature on the dark side was -20? Methane is not a liquid at -20.
But unless they were planning to spin the planet like a top, it probably wouldn't matter. What they showed as the rotation started was way too fast.
And after that, methane doesn't ignite that cold either.

It's good that it has been renewed for a second season or the cliffhanger would have been a disappointing end.

Most likely an already-made episode 13 was supposed to be the series finale, if it hadn't been renewed. As with Babylon 5, where the series finale episode "Sleeping In Light" was already made and would have been the last episode of season 4 if they hadn't been picked up by TNT for season 5.
More evidence for that is that the season/series finale episode was titled as "Everybody Wins" early on, but the last episode they showed was more like "The Element Of Surprise" as described in other places. "Everybody Wins" sounds like a series finale, but everybody did not win in episode 12.
