Discuss Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

I've made some fixes to the Season 1-4 episodes, due to them containing the following errors:

  • Wrong air dates for many of the episodes, these have now been matched up to confirmed periods.
  • Some episodes missing, those have been added.
  • A generic description has now been applied to all of the episodes, using the most consistent format possible (where an episode begins with a returning contestant, they are mentioned).
  • The correct episode is now marked as a Season Finale due to the wrong one being assigned in most cases.

Unlikely to be able to achieve the same level of consistency for S5 onwards, as the only surviving broadcast tapes for those are mangled messes created by Virgin Media (who previously acquired the tapes for broadcast on Challenge TV), which involved merging everything into hour long "Classic Millionaire" episodes, however an effort will be made to restore the consistency needed by making use of fandom wiki's which document the correct episode splittings.

I have now added an episodic still image to the regular episodes from Series 1 (E1 - E10) and all episodes of Series 2. The Christmas Special for Series 1 is not included because there are no surviving "original" broadcast copies of this episode to be found (it appears to have been lost or destroyed at some point in the intervening years), so unless someone manages to finally find a copy of this, it will forever remain imageless.

With regards to the image used on Series 2 Episode 2, this has been captured from the previous episode (Episode 01). The reason for this is that Challenge were not provided a copy of this episode when they managed to acquire the original tapes back in 2014. No further attempts were made by the channel to find the missing episode, but because Episode 2 starts with a rollover contestant, a still from Episode 01 should suffice. Of course, if an original broadcast tape is found (very unlikely at this point), the image will be replaced with the correct one.

The above issue with S02E02 will also afflict S03E03 and S04E09; subequently, the same thing will be done for these episodes. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to do this for S04E10, as that was the second part of a double-bill (E09 was the first part), and both E09 and E10 were not re-broadcast by Challenge. While copies of these episodes exist online on YouTube, they're just VHS tape recordings and are too poor quality to be used on a thumbnail., so E10 will forever lack a thumbnail until an original broadcast tape is found.

No attempts will be made to update Series 5 onwards to this standard, due to the excessive amount of work required to spool through botched edits on Challenge where "contestant chit-chat" is largely removed.

Season 4 thumbnails added. Episode 3 was broadcast incorrectly by Challenge, hence the black bars that don't exist on the other images: I had to zoom the image in a video editor to ensure the image didn't look like a small square surrounded by bars. Episode 7, 9 and 10 were not broadcast either: for E7, it was a continuation episode so an image of the contestant was sourced from Episode 6. E9 and E10 images came from what Challenge labelled as Episode 8, and these will be replaced if Challenge ever manages to repair the lost footage from the real E9 and E10.

No further work will be undertaken on the Millionaire episodes from myself, beyond occasional bursts of activity to fix the episodes on a season-per-season basis (name, description, air date, number of episodes etc). Thumbnails will be too hard to sort out for S5 onwards, due to previously mentioned reasons.
