Discuss Annika Bengtzon: Crime Reporter

Item: Liza Marklund's Annika Bengtzon

Language: sv

Type of Problem: Duplicate

Extra Details: I don't believe this should exist as a series but rather as the 6 movies that already exist! The Swedish Film Database only contains movies and they are all listed.

I would agree with you, but it's a tricky situation. In a way it is a series of TV-movies. Maybe one of our TV-experts will give this another look.

I agree it's a tricky situation.

The original series probably doesn't qualify as a series within our current guidelines. I didn't research the original material (how were the films labelled?), but according to wiki the films were first released on DVD (is that true?) and we almost never add content released directly on DVD in the TV section.

However, it aired in at least a few countries as a series. It's a series on Netflix and I know it was broadcast on TV as a series here. It would be really inconvenient to delete it...

But if we allow it as a series it might set a dangerous precedent and we don't like duplicate content. smile_cat

Edit: Oh the movie were allegedly released every two weeks. That's awfully close and dare I say series-like. Do they often batch release film series?

Not really but I think this was a special case. But if you want more data the Swedish Movie Database has them listed as "Långfilm" witch is the same as a featurette movie. And I do believe every movie has their own dvd packaging too!

Anyway I think its best to list them as movies as that is what everyone in Sweden do (original language) and there are already a movie collection for them so I don't see a reason to mess that up.

Edit: I read somewhere that some refer to it as a "Film-serie" (Movie Series) but even in that case they are still movies that are part of the same series.

I think I might have found a few solutions to this but I don't know how to best implement them.

My solution would be to classify the movies as part of a tv series but i have a feeling we cant do that. At least not yet. I can see a few series that would benefit from this, one example is Firefly with the Serenity movie.

But I have a feeling this would require significant code work and that it probably wont be cost-effective. The cost in this case would be time better spent elsewhere. Maybe it could be worked in to universes in some way? Or maybe we could just create a new tv show type kind of like the miniseries?

The last one is probably the easiest to do but might not be the best way to do it. I hope this made at least some sense...

Oh and BTW Viaplay lists it as a TV show.
