Discuss Doctor Who

If Tilda Swinton becomes the next Doctor, the series has got me until she decides to leave.

Personally, I'm hoping for Kris Marshall.

ewww no. I don't want a female doctor.

Why not?

I don't think it should change. I don't enjoy the typical thing with entertainment: let's jazz it up by making the person non-white and/or a woman. Try creating a new character for once.

Just curious, are you a white male? You don't have to answer.

I think it would be great especially since the Doctor can regenerate to see a variety of representation. I'd like to see the Doctor trying to get things done in the past and getting undercut because the Doctor's a woman or minority.

I'm female and I'm not for female Doctor as well.

Any particular reason why?

Because it's really lazy, not creative and weak to take interesting, established, developed, cult and popular male character, turn this character into a woman in order to create cult and interesting female character and try to pretend it's so cool and progressive. It's not.

Is there a reason the Doctor who can regenerate only regenerates into white men? Are Time Lords a race of only white men? Or is it that because he was born male he can only regenerate as such?

I was always under the impression that the creators had the Doctor regenerate as a plot contrivance.

White woman

Could we discuss Tilda Swinton in terms of her merits as an actor? She does definitely possess an "alien"-like quality, so she could be more in tune with the Fourth or Twelfth. However, considering that she is a Marvel Studio actor now, her pay demands could be too much for the "little" BBC.

Likewise, Idris Elba, who is also a Marvel Studio actor, while a mighty fine wager on great performances, could be a financial hurdle for the BBC.

Same. And agree with your reasoning as well.
